Possible one of the worst professors I've had a concordia. He barely teaches us what we need to know for the exam and instead focuses on making us write group essays that have very little to do with the course. Going to his class is a massive waste of time but he assigns so much homework that you have to go to hand it in.

First of all you should know that Physics is one of my favorite classes . But what I thought was a physics class turned out to be Philosophy. He has an incredibly substandard teaching approach. Instead of focusing on the material being taught, students are expected to research, on a bi weekly basis philosophers who have nothing to do with Physics.

Not the most charismatic speaker, but gives a great comprehensive teaching of the history of science and major theories in physics.

His explanations look like that: "X is important because it influences Y, which makes Y important because it is influenced by X, and therefore is important." Monotone, bad handwriting (a lot of hand written overheads), lectures consist of problem solving and discussions. Doesn't explain anything, no clear notes, and expects understanding of theory.

I really didn't like this prof. He uses overheads and illegible writing, and assumes we all took previous physics classes when that is clearly not department policy! GET A TUTOR, STUDY FROM THE BOOK, PRACTICE PROBLEMS, and whatever you do don't answer questions in class. He has a habit of trying to make students look stupid in front of their peers

weekly writings amount to 35 min. of work/week (not hard!) Readings are interesting and you'l learn alot from them. Course is organized in a peculiar way, but if you trust the teacher, in the end you'l find that you learned alot about physics with out doing any equations. People who are lazy or dumb didnt like this course just show up & do the work

Mr. Kalman I have no idea why someone would write something like they did. I loved the course and think that anyone who wrote negative things about the course are simply lazy (saying they work like a pig.) They are not willing to learn things that take some thought (i.e. planetary motion, quantum physics, etc) I found this course to be one of th

I have to agree on sompe points, the content of the course was really interesting, and he was somehow able to make it as boring as possible through dry overheads. i'm not expecting to see a concert, but I would like to somehow be engaged(3 hours of overheads cluttered with words he lazily defines). space is exciting without math, physics & kalman

I found some things unclear, namely the course dossier but I found the classes to be a lot of fun and very interesting. I looked forward to this class and i thought dr. Kalman was a cool dood in his own way. Overall it was a fun class, learned a lot but some stuff was unclear

This guy is the best in whole of physics department, he has a different style of teaching which makes the classvery interesting. He is easy marker in assignments and midterms even though the final was tough but passable.

Dr. Kalman is a great teacher who actually got me to enjoy physics. The material is fascinating and Dr. Kalman's background in particle physics makes that section of the class a little easier to digest. The course requires a lot of work... But if you do it, you will be rewarded with knowledge and fair marks. Take it. The best of the three physics.

This is a physics class so if you have no interest in physics do not take it. The course title is very fair for the course material. you will deal with particles and galaxies and most things in between. There is a fair amount of reading but if done regularly the course will not overwhelm you. The teacher is fair if you see him with any issues.

A course which does require some work, however, well worth the effort. I found the professor to be very clear and indepth in discussions. Dr. Kalman uses a unique teaching methodology which is, in my opinion, very useful in understanding material. Attend the lectures and do what is required.

Classes were a total bore. The course required a lot of reading a writing, so be prepared to put in many hours of work. While along the way most students did very well in his weekly critiques, the vagueness of what he required probably led to the majority of his students receiving marks below their expectations..take this course at your own peril

This course consists of weekly readings and writings which amount to ton of work. In the end he must have curved the marks tremendously to fail 1/4 of students.no clue what happened there. Anyways, the readings are incredibly fascinating for any none-science majors, unfortuanetly the lectures, teacher and the workload make this an unfavourable choi

Unfortunately, this will be the last physics course I take. It is meant as an introductory level course. However, there is an incredible amount of advanced material. I am also an A student and have recieved a D. The grade distribution is the oddest thing I have ever seen. There are 15 students who failed in a class of 60 students (problem???)
