Professor Payne is a great teacher. There is no homework, but a quiz at the end of each week, which can be difficult. He prepares you very well for the midterm and final exams. A very reasonable and understanding teacher who is always available for help. You pretty much get what you put into the course.

Comment:

Easiest teacher I've had at Chapman. All of his classes are the same: he lectures every class, quiz at end of the week. Lectures are incredibly boring. Quizzes are on lecture and book. Some classes have essays at the end of the year, not sure if he reads them. Almost no one shows up to the classes save tests. Nice guy, but extremely boring.

I've had Payne for 3 classes, and I simply do not understand how you could fail one of his courses. Yes- his lectures are monotone, but if you actually LISTENED to what he was saying I can guarantee you'd have trouble disputing this man's intellect and wit. Show up to class, participate take good notes, write a decent term paper & you'll get an A.

Terrible professor. Weekly quiz and he is terrible at explaining material. I tried counting on the informative text book this guy did not even use. I wish I did not take his class. His attitude is bad too.

Okay so I took this class during Interterm and it was definitely the easiest interterm class there was. All you did was sit in class for 2 hours and the midterm and final were take home multiple choice. The last couple classes all we did was watch movies. I wouldn't recommend his class for a regular semester but he made it easy for interterm.

He's somewhat monotone, lectures mostly in large, multi-syllable words and technical terms, and gives weekly quizes that are written with the intent to confuse the test taker. He doesn't respond to email and is completely unhelpful outside of class. Don't take him if you can avoid it.

Most unfair professor EVER. He uses HUGE words that aren't even in the dictionary. His quizzes are impossible. I now hate Chapman because of him...and nothing is done about him. Like the comment below me says...HE HAS TO BE ON TENURE!!!!!!!!!!! DO NO TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He HAS to be on tenure...it's pathetic that such a great university has such a horrible professor. I came to Chapman because of it's academic success, but now I am ashamed. AND he's the only professor for many of the Communications classes. It's HORRIBLE!

Clearly this professor has changed. He used to the be teacher everyone raved about. Now he hands out C's and D's like candy. And he doesn't budge. Uses big vocab words, wants you to know all the answers. Quizzes are hard if you study, hard even if you study.

Obviously this hasn't been updated in awhile. Horrible class!! Quiz questions are ridiculous, and have nothing to do with the material. He does test on things said in class, but it's so hard to pay attention because it's so boring. He is very nice though, which is a positive.

I got an A last semester and it definitely was not my hardest class. Show up even though it isn't mandatory, take notes, pay attention, and care. You can easily get an A that way. I think Payne is just getting fed up with slacker students, and honestly I don't blame him.
