Comment:

Dr. Cornett was a very helpful chemistry professor. His lectures were clear and entertaining. A few pop quizzes, but they weren't grade breaking. Exams were easy and as long as you take notes and pay attention, you'll be fine. Dr. Cornett is 100% worth taking.

Comment:

Possibly the most negative experience I've ever had with a professor. He's an ineffective educator. Poor demonstration of material, lacking in structure, expectations are commonly unclear and students leave lectures feeling lost and hopeless. He's really good at making people feel small and stupid. Unapproachable and disconnected from students.

I haven't taken a chemistry course in almost 10 years. Cornett is definitely a difficult professor, but he was awesome nonetheless. His tests were not all that difficult, but if you miss a minor detail you will be docked points. Overall, he was FANTASTIC. His lectures were great and humorous, but you will likely take a lot of notes

Comment:

Dr. Cornett is definitely one of my favorite chem professors. He definitely has favorites, but if you just talk to him, life in his class will be 1 million times easier. You have to work for your grade, but he will give you what you deserve. Overall, great guy!

Comment:

Cornett's class is very difficult if you have not taken chemistry in a while or at all. I wouldn't recommend taking CHEM1140 unless you have to. That being said, if you show him you're willing to work (i.e. ask questions, show up to class every day, visit him during office hours) he is more than willing to help you be successful in his class.

I have never had such a negative experience with a professor and had very negative feelings towards him. He is not respectful or approachable. He's condescending, and doesn't teach much during his lectures. He made me hate chemistry and I would not recommend him to anyone.

Very nice, and humorous at times, he might have favorites. Doesn't explain CRAP. Only passing chemistry because google and high school chemistry, haven't referred to my notes at all, because nothing he writes on the board makes sense. You can tell he's a crazy doctor by all the side jokes and remarks he makes. Try finding a different professor.

Terrible profesor. I had to drop class at 4 weeks once I realized I was probably going to get a D or F. He doesn't offer any help, very rude. Only upside is he is sometimes funny. Does not explain things in class at all. He just starts rambling about crap and rights stuff on the board expecting you to know it.

Hes a really nice guy but if you haven't taken chemistry in a really long time then do NOT take him, he never explains anything and when you ask him for help he gets really short and pissy with you. Not a good teacher at all.

Cornett is a very interesting professor. He is quite amusing. Homework stumps him sometimes, whereupon he might teach you how to fudge the problem and squeeze an answer out. Very helpful to have as a lab professor, too. Also, do NOT address him as Mr.

He kind of scared me, I felt like I couldn't go to him for help because I felt like he would make me feel like an idiot. I did not want to show up for class and I learned nothing because he was so difficult to understand. He doesn't explain problems either. I'm not a slacker, but I do better if I have a good teacher. Do not take his class.

As good a prof you can have for Chem for Engineers. Curved A LOT and was very clear in class. Did lots of examples in class if you asked. Homework not graded but a good idea to to it. As long as you paid attention to the weeks lecture the friday quizes were a breeze!

Chuck's a pretty a cool guy. Has lectures that are sometimes interesting. Frequently makes chem jokes that are over the class's level of understanding, then wonders why we don't laugh, but that's generally what makes him likable. Tests are very short, but he likes to test on small details. Overall I'd recommend him for the class over profs

I am not sure why most students are saying bad things about him. When i had him for Chem. for Engineers he wast not so bad. Makes weird jokes, helpful, reasonable grading on tests, and gives a good lecture. I would say he is the best Chem teacher i have had

I don't know why this guy gets such a bad rap. He omits the information that isn't relative and teaches you exactly what you need to know. You will have to study your ass off, but it's a 5 credit class. It's expected! Compared to Sandholm, this man is a God. And he does joke around, but it doesn't deter from his straightforward teaching. Take him.
