I would strongly discourage taking his class. He knows Spanish, but he's not a good teacher. If someone asked a question, he was never helpful in giving a clear answer. He's not understanding to students struggling wih concepts. Find another teacher!

Great professor if you want to learn about HISTORY and not learn ANY SPANISH...grr. Worst class EVER. Take Chale, you'll actually learn something. The only thing Dr. HELLand is good for is playing tricks on. It's the only way I could stay awake in his class.

He really cares about people and has a passion for the Spanish language. As for teaching, I must admit he wasted most of the class time, didn't teach the language well, and was unclear about tests and homework. But as a person- I think he is soooo nice and caring...

Poor guy doesn't know a thing about teaching or life. One day my HUSBAND kissed me on the cheek before I went to class and he saw and told me that we were behaving inappropriately. He's very strange, and I didn't learn much from him. I had to get a tutor on the side in order to get a B in the class. Save yourself.

Totally lost most of the time in his class. I wasn't the only one. If I didn't have such a good span 102 teacher i would be in trouble. He is a great man though i know that bc i spent lots of time in his office. You have to do a lot of learning on your own and that is hard to do with span 101
