Ed is a great professor. I took his intro course with a lot of programming under my belt so I can't gauge the difficulty very well. I thought he introduced topics at the perfect pace and really cared about his students. He did a lot of demonstrations to model programming structures and ideas. I wish I had him when I was doing an introductory course

I had Ed Parrish last semester, and I had a great experience with him. All of the classmates I talked to about Ed said they really liked him, too. He puts his lecture notes online, has the class practice actual code writing during class, and the requirements for homework programs are very clear. Bonus points for also having a good sense of humor.

He is incredibly clear about what you need to do for each assignment. He really cares about his students. It's a fun class and the workload isn't bad. There's a lot of group work which can suck if you end up in a bad group but Ed understands that. Everything is well organized and very helpful in learning the material.

Ed uses electronic notes to lecture, which anyone can access online for reference. He explains the concepts in class, and there are usually a couple of small assignments in class that give the opportunity to ask questions about the notes. Overall, the assignments are not too difficult until the end. I recommend using his office hours and STEM.

Great teacher. Very helpful and understanding. He presents the material in a way that is interesting, fun, and easy to get the hang of. Really nice guy. Workload is nothing crazy, expect to spend 2-4 hours a week on homework. His lecture notes are fantastic- everything you need to complete assignments should be available on his website.

Ed is very organized with his lecture notes and assignments and is very helpful. I was very intimidated by CS before taking this class, but am now considering changing my major! He gives plenty of extra credit and makes excelling possible. He is one of the kindest professors I've ever had, and his corny humor was very entertaining. He's wonderful!

Mr. Parrish was an excellent professor. Picking up some of the material was though, but plenty of time to finish assignments, and class was divided into groups. Beware of slackers in groups, and of "dominating leaders," but otherwise, class is fun (I actually changed my major from Fine Arts to Computer Science because of this class). Great class.

I was confused as to what he wanted most of the time, and instructions tended to be very vague. He needs to update his website and lecture material, and at least make sure links work before class. Greenfoot is not an effective program for learning how to code in Java. Recommend teaching yourself beforehand so you aren't lost like I was.

I've taken Ed for CS11 and PHP. He's a really good instructor, His lectures cover what you need to know for the assignments. I often found myself referring to his website when I later took CS19. His PHP class was really fun because you get to learn server side scripting and SQL database management . Your final project gets to be whatever you want!

I loved this class! Besides some confusion in the beginning about what homework was due when and where, his instructions are easy to understand and very thorough. I love that his lectures are online- it made it easy to find the info I needed. Awesome dry sense of humor, too.

Ed is a wonderful Professor! Turned me into a computer science major after my first week. He puts and immense amount of time into his lecture notes, they are extremely helpful. Do every assignment because they compound. If you miss or do not complete one, do it on your own time or risk falling behind.

Starting at University caused me to think about my old prof. I thought the prof was really good. Knows his stuff and told story about how he turned down a job at Google to teach. Lecture notes are very helpful and thorough. Very helpful to students and goes above and beyond. Helped me get a summer internship with a game company!

I've had Parrish for both cs11 and cs20. His lectures are all posted on his website which is VERY helpful. However when asked a question about homework, his answer will usually be "Did I say that?".

Ed can be dry at times, but he is very helpful to explain things if you don't understand him. Assignments are fun yet challenging. He often extends deadlines because people can't figure out the assignments.

Good thorough teacher. Well organized. His lectures are online and very helpful resource in summarizing the book, if you keep on top of the work you wont even need the book. Homework is a good application, very helpful during office hours. He seems to be have slow typing and responsiveness for someone who spends all their time with computers.

Amazing prof, organized, clearly interested in subject and helping you learn it. Website is basically his lecture notes in case you miss a class. Don't miss too many though, it's a tough class. You'll need to spend time practicing to do well. Bottom line: learned a lot and can apply it...how often can you say that? Did I mention he was amazing?
