Comment:
I have taken 4 of Wimberly's classes because I literally I LOVE them. All it is is one homework a week (about an hour) and you have to cite using MLA(!!) and then one final exam which is similar to the homework. He sounds blunt in his emails but if you ask he'll show you how to cite/explain . He uses an external website not canvas! no books needed

Comment:
All assignments for this class with Professor Wimberley are found through his own website instead of Canvas. He does not post any grades on Canvas. However, work can only be turned in through Canvas email and he will only communicate with you on Canvas. The course was not very organized and his emails can certainly be rude and unhelpful.

I have taken 2 classes of his and both were great. I found that the external site was convenient and easy to use. Each assignment was posted with his exact expectations. His courses involve a lot of reading and researching outside sources, so get ready to put your thinking caps on. All in all, I would recommend his courses.

I have taken several courses with Wimberley that were required. He is by far the most frustrating and unorganized professor I have had at FGCU. The use of his external website makes no sense, he never tells you your final grade, I have never seen anything written by him that did not have a typo, and he does not even read your assignments.

BEWARE! If you want a professor that does not use canvas but rather an outdated and external platform for their course, refuses to communicate with you unless it is via Canvas (which makes no sense considering the fact that he does not use it for his class), and who gives you unreasonably difficult work for an elective then this is your guy!

The worst educator at Florida Gulf Coast University- hands down. I did well in his class and rarely ever go on Rate My Professor but felt that it was my duty as a student to rate this guy before some other poor student takes him and has to deal with him. He is the most unhelpful, impolite, and difficult person to deal with in all my years at FGCU.

Wimberely is a great professor and really seems to care and give good feedback to students. This class was a little challenging with all the readings and the length of the homework. Although Wimberely is a very fair grader.

I though the online class was structured quite well and easy for students to follow. Reading assignments due each week (14) and one final at the end which is sent out by email with at least a week to work through it. I have had several online and live courses with wimberley and he has a good sense of humor and appreciates hard working students.

The entire semester there were only homework assignments (which he would grade very leniently) and one final. The final was hard and was very confusing. He did not use the canvas grading system & would not tell you what grade you had if you asked. Answered emails after a couple days. His syllabus didn't apply to the online class &made it 10x harder

He doesn't answer your emails & doesn't use canvas. Hard to stay consistent with your grade & the class work. Even tried to email him to ask what my grade in the class was and he never answered me. The tests are also on a weird website. For the final I spent 5+ hours looking up all the answers in the book and still failed the tests. Makes no sense

This is an interesting class. He teaches really well and is funny. The best thing about him is he helps you build your opinion. He teaches you to make up your own mind about things. Even if your opinion varies from his, he will still grade you fairly as long as you back your claims. If you do the work, you will pass. I liked him a lot and enjoyed.

I took Prof. Wimberley for an online course of Environmental PolicyLaw, which I find quite interesting as an Env. studies major. The course was structured well with weekly assignments on Canvas that we would complete, yes cited in APA format, which helps I think. One final exam at the end and 14 weekly assignments. Keep up with weekly work! (A)

Contrary to his reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by this professor. I really enjoyed his class. There is a lot of writing involved, but stay on top of it and you will be fine. He is an extremely interesting, educated man and I personally appreciated hearing a new perspective instead of the same droll we always hear in environmental classes.

One of the worst professors ever. Honestly doesn't care for the students and is only concerned with students reading his published books. Doesn't accept work even if it is 1 MINUTE LATE. Expect to write long ridiculous papers every week. His syllabus is out of date and very confusing. He also won't answer you if you have questions on anything. Meh.

Wimberly is no philosophies professor, he is a preacher & doesn't let students form their own perspectives & cuts down those that actually do participate. He is egotistical and a hypocrite chugging diet coke & criticizes "elite environmentalist" wheres the change he's trying to make, he certainly isn't empowering his students.

I like this professor for online work. You really don't have to do much in his environmental health class and is an easy A if you do all the work. He'll listen to student input (which is a plus!).

(online class) If it was structured differently might have actually been interesting, but submitting 15 page vocab/discussion questions each week that had to be properly APA cited was extremely time consuming. It was an easy A though if you APA cite properly and actually turn in the work - but it is A LOT of work.

Easy class but will require anywhere between 150-200 word pages worth of papers over the entire semester... one 15-20 page paper a week- but that's all the class is! Attendance is not mandatory, and he gives out his personal phone number and you can just call him whenever. One class a week+one paper=easy for me.

Tons of writing and homework and a clear conservative bias (that he admits to). Learned more from the readings than from class. Take class if you're prepared to do a lot of work and learning on your own.
