I took at least 4 classes with her and she's been my advisor for 4+ yrs. She is one of my favorite people outside of class-very caring and sweet. In class she is intimidating and strict, but clear. Generally gives a lot of reading homework and you'd better get it done because classes consist of lengthy discussions of reading. Learned a LOT from her

She is a wonderful professor. She is very intimidating, but she is a very caring person and is always looking for ways to help you. The homework load is excessive, but it isn't that difficult. Later courses seem extremely easy after this class!

Most people loved Santos-Phillips, but I thought she was moody and needed to just relax sometimes. She's a little high strung. Overall, the class isn't too difficult. Skim the readings, it's a discussion class and participation is big. There's a research paper and a presentation, both unclear what she really is looking for but she grades leniently.

This class was pretty intense, but it's an advanced lit class - so it should be! Santos-Phillips was a great teacher and really cared about her students! She is adorable, and makes class fun. DO the readings - she always seems to have a super power to know who doesn't do them and always call on them. See her during office hrs about the paper.

I wouldn't want to have anyone else but her for this class. The class is difficult and requires a ton of reading outside of class, but she makes things as easy as possible and explains things really well. Quizzes aren't too bad. She loves it when you participate a lot in discussion. Do the readings if you want to stay on her good side.

Santos-Phillips is a wonderful prof. She's thorough in her lessons and knows her material. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask because she'll explain things until you can understand it. A little intimidating the first few weeks of class but a truly wonderful person when you get to know her.

She's a great teacher! Her syllabus is very well organized and she gives clear instructions. She balances lecture with in class activities so the class never really gets boring. If you're really interested in learning Spanish, take her! She's a native speaker so she speaks it well and is always willing to help if you have questions.

Not a fan... You learn a ton, but super hard to get an A. She is seriously SO intimidating, randomly calls on you, but at the same time is super nice and helpful. If you want to get the retro-credits don't take her..unless you're willing to work your ass off.

Wonderful teacher, indimidating at times (I think 5 people dropped after the first day), but really gets to know students and is an excellent teacher. Sometimes dances around the room and once did a hilarious skit to illustrate a concept. After this, 301 is easy. You must take her class seriously, but you'll learn a lot.

She's an intimidating woman but a great professor. She expects a lot more than other 202 classes but it is worth it. Keeps class fun but you also learn a lot. If you are serious about learning the language, she's a sure thing.

Dr. Santos-Phillips is a wonderful professor. She teaches a very demanding class, but she wants you to understand not only how to listen in Spanish, but also how to write, speak, and even think in Spanish. The class discussions are great. This class is hard, but you learn so much.

Very demanding but totally worth it! Speaks Spanish well, and it's easy to understand once you get the hang of it. Tests and quizzes aren't terrible if you study, but they are challenging. Take this class if you are dedicated to Spanish and want to improve. It is impossible not to with Pr. Santos-Phillips teaching you!

Eva Santos-Phillips' classes are extremely demanding but TOTALLY worth it! She is extremely passionate about literature/history and I would take another class with her in a heartbeat. As stated, the class is VERY demanding-- lots of outside classwork and you definitely have to stay on your toes... but she's always willing to meet with you!Love her!

Dr. Santos-Phillips is somewhat intimidating if you can't speak Spanish well. Thats all you can speak with her. There is a ton of outside work that takes a long time, especially if Spanish is not your strongest class. I wouldn't take this class just for fun; it's too time consuming. If you need it, this prof knows her stuff.

A very very nice lady, but a very very hard class. A lot of reading, and difficult readings, especially at first. But there is a lot of group discussion, she really wants to make sure you understand. Her tests are hard, essays, so you really need to study. Be prepared to work hard in this class.

This was a very difficult class to take as an incoming freshman. However, I think it was helpful. Profe is very demanding of her students. She expects a lot of previous knowledge of Spanish and a lot of work outside of class. I found her a little intimidating. She was probably pretty helpful, but I found it a bit scary to go to her.

Professor Santos-Phillips is a very helpful professor. She understands that it's necesary to repeat phrases in Spanish for comprehension. She's a nautural teacher. She expects you to work hard and study outside of class and if so, you'll do fine. She's very profesional but sometimes will tell jokes, very snappy dresser.Take her to learn a lot!

If your not the best at Spanish and just randomly got placed in this class from the placement tests, don't take her. She already expects you to know a lot. She expects 4 hours of homework every night, and the tests are pretty hard. The reading quizzes are not all that bad. She concentrates mostly on the subjunctive a lot.
