Comment:

Dr. Long heavily challenges what you thought you knew about the world and the Bible, but he does it in such a way that you leave feeling motivated to learn more and not just defeated. 10/10 would recommend.

Comment:

Gary is such a solid prof. He is raw and authentic when he speaks. He challenges your assumptions and is brutally honest about the Bible. If you come from a traditional background, you'll have a difficult time with his class. He lectures and shares a lot from his personal experience, which is super powerful. He's just an all around awesome guy.

Comment:

"I don't take away points. You don't start with 100, you start with 0." He is the toughest grader. That said, TAKE THIS CLASS! Gary is not what you expect from a theologian at a Christian school. He is unafraid to point out the lies and hypocrisy of Christianity while showing that Jesus is the best. Feminist + LGBT friendly and cancels class a lot.

It's my senior year, and Gary Long is the toughest grader I've experienced. He is very knowledgeable, although you may or may not agree with his views. The J course is a lot more work if you have no theological background. If you're ready for learning, Long will engage you.

Long is someone who is very passionate about what he teaches, but he also is very opinionated. He has certain insights about the bible and is not very open to accepting other ideas. For our class we only had a midterm and a final and it was a difficult class.

Amazing prof, esp. w/ only 4 students in the class, he got me really excited about Hebrew and made it EXTREMELY clear; but it's hard though. I'm taking Greek at Moody, it's about as clear as mud compared to Long
