I cannot stress enough how much I loved Professor Miller's class. He is very entertaining and he really knows his stuff. Participation isn't as important but he can DEFINITELY tell when you are paying attention and engaging with the material, and I feel like he takes note of that. He actually inspired me to declare a history minor, he's that good

Professor Miller was great! I've always loved history, but he made the class engaging and fun. Grade consisted of two tests, a paper, a short writing assignment, and attendance. You'll learn a lot, too.

He knows what he is talking about. The only drawback is he will never let you let the class early and gives continuous 3 hours lecture. He tries his best to make History fun. One mid-term exam and one finals take home. Grading: He gives what you deserve.

Good professor - go to class, take somewhat decent notes, skim through the assigned readings, and go over everything 2-3 times before an exam and you'll be good. He makes history somewhat interesting, incorporates 2-3 jokes throughout every lecture.

I thoroughly enjoyed Modern World History last summer. He is very cute and knows his stuff. Jokes and keeps heavy material from being too boring. I am a History major but more interested in ancient/pre-civ times but he made this class fun. Spent as much time on West European developments as the East which is refreshing .

This guy was pretty funny and he knows his stuff - his lectures are almost like he's reading a novel so it's easy to jot down notes and remember stuff. Participation is encouraged but don't sweat it if you're quiet. Would recommend for anyone interested in history, is a history major or just needs some kind of elective.

One of the best professors I've ever had. Such a great attitude and fascinating lectures. I filled my notebook because all of what he was saying was so fascinating and engaging--really knows his history. Lecture and a few papers. Easy A. Great Guy.

Prof. Miller is a great lecturer. He's very dynamic and is able to keep the attention of the class. His assignments are fun and unique, usually something you don't see in an "Understanding Literature" course. Definitely worth taking a class with him.

Professor Miller was interesting but not as good as some of the previous reviews. His class was not difficult, he is fair, but I was disappointed, I expected more out of this class.

You had to go to class, not because he took attendance but because you would be missing 3 hours of story-time if you didn't! You can tell he has a passion not just for his subject, but for teaching. The way he told the story of Western Civ (aka Modern European History, pre-enlightenment - WWI) was better than any movie could be!

Great professor. It can't be stressed enough that he makes a 3 hour class fly by. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor. The assignments aren't the slightest bit difficult if you attend the lectures and take good notes. Hands down one of the best professors I've had at UMB in 6 semesters.
