Not the best class but it was an easy and laid back A. As long as you do the readings and try to participate in class discussions as much as possible. You should be fine!

Comment:
Dr. Richardson's class was very laid back, and each class was spent fully on discussing the novel. He has a decent sense of humor. The main downsides is that he expects you to read a lot quickly, and he tends to grade the essays pretty harshly. (For instance, if you forget something he's specificly looking for, he'll dock off points.)

pretty nice guy and funny during lectures. he grades hard but you won't get your grades back for a long time. if he thinks you're dumb, you can kind of tell, but if you put in work and think about things before you say them, he'll notice and he loves it. he's passionate. don't miss class though, and look out for pop quizzes. i got an A, but barely.

Decent class. There were certain things I enjoyed, such as group discussions. There were also things I hated. Everything outside of class was... not great. Grades didn't go in until way after we actually turned our work in. I MEAN WAY AFTER. I liked the professor though. This is a class you need to play it by ear in. An A seems to be hard to get.

I'm not a huge fan of Shakespeare. But for what it's worth, Gary connected some unseen dots in the plays' themes, diction, and character relationships. Class discussions became dry every so often, but that wasn't totally his fault. He's not a tough grader. He's an HONEST grader.

He never stays on topic, the schedule, or grades anything in a timely fashion. We had to squeeze the last THREE books into the final month of class. His quizzes are really hard and focused on small detail, with little time to answer them. He also sticks to only calling on certain people and does not like if you disagree with him. DO NOT TAKE

He never stays on syllabus and never shuts up. You're graded for participation, but when he asks a question he only ever wants his answer. He gives fill in the blank quizzes, you have 5 minutes to type 10 answers and no passes them. Also if people agree with your answer more than his then you don't get to participate anymore, goodbye A. Don't do it

Dr. Richardson is tough. He gives a lot of essays only to never give grades or feedback for them. We've had several papers, and I have only gotten my grade back on two of them. Even then, I did not get sufficient feedback to improve on. He is also very long-winded and digressive in his classes. I was over his class by the end of the first week.

Lets class out late a lot. I've turned in three papers and just got the first grade back. Class consists of reading long articles before class then discussing them and going into extremely in depth discussions in class. I was afraid to speak up in class because he always shot down everyone who spoke. I was over his class after a month

Seriously, this guy doesn't need to be in charge of a class unless he has a grader - and maybe not then. Last week of class, none of our 7 assignments are graded at all. He refuses to allow students to refute his points of view, and it seems clear that he's "winging it" in class. In short, he's unprofessional and useless.

Richardson is nick-named scary gary on campus. It's not becuase of his appearance--he looks like a grandfather figure. He's scary cause you have no idea how you stand in his class. The first essay was pushed back multiple times and grades weren't received until the last week of classes. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

Dr. Richardson is a good professor who makes me laugh. Class gets cancelled relatively often. He expects a lot of reading and writing though. It is the last week of classes and I STILL have not gotten back my first paper.

Overall, I was happy with Dr. Richardson in this class. I didn't find the material interesting for the most part, so discussion tended to drag sometimes. He's very helpful and willing to discuss anything with you. Incredibly intelligent, but not in a way that he can't communicate with students. He takes forever to grade papers, though.

Dr. Richardson is fantastic! I was apprehensive about going into his class because I had heard rumors about him being scary, but he's actually wonderful. He's incredibly intelligent, funny, and always wants to hear student's opinions. The class always sparks interesting discussion, and the material is relevant and interesting. Grades very slowly.

His class is discussion based, but he usually spends all of the time talking and correcting his students. A lot of what he says is difficult to understand because he contradicts himself. He is not good with giving feedback- it took over three months to get back a paper I wrote the first week of class. Don't challenge his opinions.

I love Dr.Richardson! He's really well read and really nice. He's not even a bit as scary as everyone says. His expectations are high, but gives you help if you see him outside of class. The class is interesting and discussions are good.

He is tough, but fair. If you show him that you really want to learn and that you are willing to put in the work, he will help you out. Don't take this class because you think it will be an easy A. You have to work for it and always come to class prepared to contribute to the discussion. He's not as scary as everyone says.

Comment:
Demands class participation yet belittles every answer posed to his questions. Absolutely loves tearing students down in front of the class and is incapable of teaching outside of the Socratic method. I think he is modeling his classroom behavior after that of professors in movies, unfortunately he comes off rude and arrogant.
