AVOID HIM! Absolute worst professor at UTK! I have no idea how this guy became a professor! His class is nothing but lots of irrelevant anecdotes.

This was the most confusing class I have ever taken. During the lectures he makes countless mistakes and is continuously finding, but never correcting his own ppt slides. When you ask questions, he responds with "I don't know why you ask me this question." with angry face.

Though Dr. Bozdogan is a very poor lecturer, he genuinely wants his students to do well in the class. He curves all of his tests and gives very easy in class quizzes to help boost you grade. Like i said he might not be the most interesting teacher to listen to but you will get a good grade in his class if you do the homeworks and practice tests.

He does nothing but read slides right off the computer. His review sessions consist of him reading more slides right off the computer. His explanations are very confusing and he does not answer questions clearly. Avoid at all costs!

He is smart, but makes up his own methods-making it impossible to find other sources to clarify what he has in his book (which is full of errors, but don't tell him because he gets offended easily.) He's too busy to help, usually not in his office during office hours, didn't communicate with the TA, and insulted me publicly for asking questions.

Extremely qualified to teach any Stats class. Taught methods far beyond class. May have hard time with clarity because of knowing 6+ languages. Did not believe in classical stats methods he was teaching. Did not stick to syllabus exactly. Made a trip to Italy for 2 weeks during classes.

Very smart prof. Does not TEACH well at all. He practically reads the slides most of the time, and attends class maybe 50 percent of the semester. The rest of the time a TA attempted to teach. Also, difficult to understand accent.

Comment:

Before starting grad school at UT, statistical theory was something I enjoyed. Dr. Bozdogan showed no interest in his classes and less interest in his students. In class he demonstrated apathy and incompetence. Teaching seems to be a sidebar for him that he has to tolerate. (I now teach statistics.)

A joke. This guy gives you a test that even he can't do. A liar. Says he is too busy to grade. He never gives you back your work until the end of the semester. If you have to take his course be prepared for his bull$h*t.
