Had a hard time understanding him, spent a lot of time learning material on my own. Doesn't post slides until he finishes lecturing the chapter. His grading criteria is a 55 to pass with a C, its not consistent, he curved our class many of us wouldn't have passed without it. Tells you to study an absurd amnt of questions from txtbook for exams.

He is very good at explaining topics and loves class participation. He wants to see you try and gives extra credit if you do a problem in front of the class, even if youre wrong. Dont miss his class. Trying to learn from the book is horrible. He makes topics easy to understand, but this isnt an easy A. You need to do the homework and study.

A lot of opportunity to pass the class, extra credit through participation and the class is curved. Don't skip class, it's possible to miss assignments and important concepts especially when he doesn't post powerpoints until he's done presenting them. Book is only used for practice problems, and it is pretty wordy--only read to reinforce a concept.

Professor Selvaraj was amazing, he's one of UNLV's finest. Make sure you do his HW as he assigns great problems that will help you grasp the concept of the class. He is also a genuinely caring professor, but you have to put in the work, don't expect to pass if you don't do much either. Take him if you have the chance to so.

He is a great guy and his lectures are mostly from powerpoints. My advice to everyone is to do all the homework and revision problems he assigns. He does give credit to people who accept his challenge of doing problems on the board. If he sees that you are trying to do the work, then you will pass.

The textbook for the class seems to have been written by someone who does not have English as his first language. Showing up to lecture and always volunteering to solve problems in front of the class will result in getting extra credit usually, and also will help you to actually learn what he expects you to know.

The subject is easy. However, I had trouble understanding what he says or is explaining at times. I resorted to youtube for most of it. He did not give any quizzes if I remember correctly, so do ALL your homework and tests. He does go over an example test the last day of lecture before the exam date, so attend those! It is VERY similar.

Dr. Selvaraj is amazing! Don't base your decision on taking him on a few negative reviews. CPE 100 is a TOUGH class and its a lot of new material to absorb. Anyone who rated him poorly was probably too lazy to do his homework. The material in this class is dry, but he makes it fun! Always had a good laugh in each lecture. Wish he taught CPE 200 :(

I think this professor is one of the best professors in UNLV, of course, you have to participate in class, do homework, and study for the tests. Homework and participation count a lot. But, he knows the material and he is willing to help if you have any questions. Also, if he sees you struggling and putting effort he would help you too.

Henry Selvaraj was probably one of the worst professor's I've ever had. If you're going to take CPE 100, he's hard to understand and you pretty much have to learn everything one your own. I would honestly think really hard before you consider taking this class.

This professor is on the extremes. Some love him, some are the total opposite. I 'm in the first category. He's very tough, but also very thorough in his lectures. I always look forward to his classes. There's a lot of involvement and interesting - thought-provoking assignments. He appreciates hard work, so to succeed be ready to buckle down.

The class moves fast, and the material is covered at an expedited rate. He uses slides, and the book is used for homework problems. The class is curved and the exams are not much different from the review. He gives you opportunities to better your grade with extra credit. The homework is worth 20 percent of your grade, so do it.

Very effective professor. If you work hard, the professor recognizes that. Others who submitted reviews probably want an 'easy A'. By virtue of the material itself, that is not happening. Great lectures and class involvement made this course worth it. Excellent job!

Don't buy the book.Let's just say I had to argue with him in order to give me the grade I deserve. Not very open to discussion, rarely responds to email the first time, and I hope I never see him again in any future engineering classes.

Comment:
Mandatory attendance (homework), projects can replace exams, exams cover trivia (do projects), professor had only 7 lectures, only ~30% of the final grade is returned to the student, advises practice that contradicts industry standard (async design), inconsistent subjective grading of projects. Easy subject, but expect no help from the instructor.

Class is very unorganized, syllabus is irrelevant due to setbacks in schedule, thus making things much more stressful. Importantly I feel like: What?
