If you don't record all his lectures, be prepared to waste ridiculous amounts of time trying to find the answer to easy questions since he does not provide explanations to his concepts, only a bunch of graphs and charts with no background. Does not help, expects you to read hundreds of pages of text a week which could be summed up in few sentences

This class is very tough and you will have to work to get a good grade. However, you will learn a LOT in this class. There is weekly research papers you have to read and write a one page summary for. He posts a very good exam review sheet before the tests. He does not give the answers to it but takes the exam questions directly from it.

give online hw with an online textbook and clicker quesitons (helps grade), but his lectures are not great. hard to focus. his powerpoints are mostly pictures so if you dont go go class and remember or take notes, at times its useless. gives practice questions for each test. tests are hard but i suppose fair for a 300 level class. not an easy A tho

Nice guy, but slightly dim. Doesn't reliably respond to emails and for some reason constantly grades things wrong which need to be corrected. Makes use of Simutext which is ok as long as it works. If it doesn't, you suffer. A couple of equations are needed for his tests and he loves to act like he is a genius because he can work them. Woo hoo.

I took this class with Lasker in 93 and I see nothing has changed. The class then was boring and nobody had any idea what this guys was going to ask on the test. The lab portion was great.

Lasker lives in a world of charts and graphs; he sees the environment as it lays out on a dry erase board. If a dry, soulless, mathematical approach to biology is your thing, step right in. If you have any sense of aesthetic whatsoever, sitting through this will destroy you inside, one graph at a time. But, you may just be empty enough to enjoy it.

He is really friendly and professional when you ask any question. You find his lectures to be vogue and boring because you don't have any idea of those materials prior to class. He doens't give out 'core' explanations, but supplementary ones in the lecs. Read the books before you go and do practice exams, that's all you need to do.

Classes are extremely boring but we had to come because he took attendance via clickers. He gives practice problem sets that help a lot with the test but not with the multiple choice portion. Im sure he'd be more interesting if it were a smaller, different class, but he was mostly just confusing and vague.

Dr. Lasker is incredible. I didn't find his lectures to be boring at all and I also had him for BIO 309. Great with office hours- is always willing to explain something to a greater depth if you raise your hand and ask or if you go and see him. Definitely recommended!

This class is the epitome of dull. Studying for the exams is very stressful because you're not sure exactly what you should have learned, and the expectations are not clear. I went to class and it was absolutely pointless. A lot of the students are ecology freaks, and if you're just a bio major who's not interested in it, sucks for you.

He is very very boring! Lectures are pointless. However, the tests are easy to pass because he gives so many practice questions online that are word for word on the test, and on top of that he curves...If you don't need the class, don't take it. But if you're stuck like I was, it's not horrible

Definitly a hard prof but who ever this student is with the "4.0" suck it up and stop whining next time. Because of your whining alone I find it difficult to believe that you are even a 4.0 student. Anyway. Dont take the class unless you have to. If you have too just study the practice questions for the test and that will help greatly.

I am not too sure why people are bashing this guy. The material is very dry and his lectures are boring. His tests are not hard though and he cruves on top of it. He gives you a bunch of practices porblems/tests and half of them appear on the test word for word from those porbelms. Also if you need help in the class, he is very nice and helpful

If you dont have to take this class, PLEASE DON'T....But if you do, just try and suck it up and study for it. It's an easy class, but who wants to sit there and study barnacles for five hours (unless that's your thing) Very nice guy though
