Yi's class is do-able. Take him if you get screwed over with scheduling... better than taking another bad prof in the department. His tests are predictable because it's straight from the homework. The twist is that he chooses the hardest questions. Long and difficult weekly assignments too. Good luck!

people who say they failed the class are probably the ones that never came to class. half the class didn't show up to the lectures, hence the reason why they failed. there is a huge curve. i've never taken an ap calculus, and ended up with an A. he throws a huge curve at the end, which brought my 83 to a 100. go to his office hours, he is very help

This is my first negative review. I usually judge very conservatively, but this time I must warn you NOT to take Yi's class. You cannot understand him one bit, and it is quite obvious he does not enjoy teaching, he despises it. I really cannot tell you how non-sensical the final exam was for this class. He tells you that no calculator are needed an

You don't need to go to class, just do the HW and study the text book and you will do fine. Does not give partial credit which was a drag but has a huge curve, above an 80 was an A!

This is the easiest class I have taken. You don't need to go to class at all. Just study the homework and the test problems are exactly the same with just different numbers...word for word. No, he's not a good "teacher" but anyone who has basic calculus knowledge can get an A without any effort.

The worst professor I've ever had at GW. He mumbles everything so you can barely understand him. He truly doesn't care about his students. Time and time again trying to get him to help me just left him not caring at all, ticked off that someone asked for help. If you're decent at math, material isn't hard, but he makes it painful. DO NOT TAKE

Yi stands with his back to the class the entire lecture and mumbles poor English. Doesn't respect students and hates when anyone asks questions. Tests are similar to homework (online). Thinks he's the smartest man alive.

Average professor. Seems to enjoy giving students difficult test questions, and walks around the room during tests smirking and occasionally chuckling. However, there was a large curve and the lowest test grade is dropped, so all the intimidation is probably just for show. He has a thick accent, but it's not really that difficult to understand him.

he is very difficult to understand the first week but then you get used to it. He tries to scare you and tell you how hard the class is but its really not. If you go to class and take the notes and do the homework, you will see the exact same things on the test, sometimes the exact problems. go to his office hours! hes helpful

I also love Yi! The class itself is dull, but when is calc fun? Most Math 20 profs are questionable so he's prolly your best bet. He spends loads of time in his office per week and is very nice and helpful one on one. He assigns one big problem set due once a week which you must do. Attendance is optional, but recommended. Overall, pretty descent.

I love Professor YI. Hes GW's Kim Jong IL. The class is boring as could be, but not too hard. Its worth going to just to hear him talk. Hes kind of a prick in class, but outside hes real nice...takes about a week to understand what languages hes speaking. If you do the homework and study you can at least get a C.

He teaches with his back to the class the whole time, mumbles, talks and writes on the board very fast, and gets annoyed when you ask questions. I didn't get anything out of the lectures, taught myself almost everything out of the book.

He's a good teacher although at times seems he lacks personality (which he does have, just doesn't show it). His lectures are clear (however, his accent can be difficult to follow). He's an extremely lenient grader; he gave half the class either A's or A minuses.

I hate math, and I did ok in his class-meaing I didn't fail. At times, he thinks he is the smartest man alive, especially on exam days, and it shows. But then there are those times when he messes up and he looks like he has lost all of his Asian honor. If you have the chance, don't go to class, just date some hot who will tutor you.

He's a nice guy, and he has his funny moments. It's not necessary to come to class if you read your book (unless you're not good at proofs, which are on exams). There are 3 midterms and a final. He's definitely easier than other Lin Algebra professors.

only take this class if you've taken calculus before! i'd previously only taken precalc and had absolutely no idea what was going on, but i still got a b because there was a pretty big curve at the end. also, he is really hard to understand because of his accent and kind of a hard ass in class, but if you go into his office hours, he's pretty nice.

I think he was an amazing professor. His english is not so bad, and his teaching style is perfect for his testing, as in look at what he says in class and you'll do more than fine on the tests. I missed a bunch of classes and still got an A in the class.

Class was as easy as a teacher could make it. He gives you all the tools to get an A, the only reason a student does bad in his course is if they do not come to class or go for extra help. I have missed around 8 classes and have gotten A's on every test. This guy is a great teacher, I highly recommend him.
