Class is boring but pretty easy. Tests are MC and allows you to use a cheat sheet. He tells you which problems you should know for the exam. 1 hw presentation & has sign in sheet. Acct is not my thing but I ended up with a B. Prof Shim is pretty nice and down to earth. Always mentions monday night football

Comment:

If you do all the problems in the back of the book, you'll do fine of the exams. This class is pretty much, "teach yourself." He is funny though, and does go over the "theory" part of the course, but the exam is pure "math" based part of the accounting and no theory.

Comment:

Difficult course. Unless it's your day to present a homework problem, don't bother coming to class. You won't learn anything, you'll just fall asleep. Just do practice problems out of the book. 2 midterms, 1 final exam: all m/c. Heavy curve--thank god. If possible, take this class during Fall semester--he takes pity on students around the holidays!

Lecture is not interesting. During problem presentation he marks problems that will be similar on the exam. Study the problems and you will do ok. Basically, you will teach yourself ACCT310.

Teacher is horrible. You will not learn a thing from this class. During the lecture, he doesn't explain how he gets the numbers. He gives all the exercises that will be similar to what is expected on the test. Tests are actually hard. He is not so helpful. If you do want to learn something do not take this teacher.

Shim is not as bad as people ake him out to be. The class itself is boring and no one can make it interesting if not an accounting major. The material is quite easy, as all you have to study for is the problems in his book. lets you use a sheet of formulas and if you do the problems, an easy B or A.

Material very easy, and Shim gives lots of hints on what questions will be on the test. Never stayed for lectures, but for reviews. Got an A by studying on my own.

This class was impossible. When he tells you to study certain problems, sometimes they are on the exams, sometimes they are not. Studying from the book will not help (I tried); what you need to do is to try to figure out which hw problems he thinks is important, study them, and pray that they will be on the test. Horrible professor, Good luck.

Doesn't a "professor" teach you something? I didn't learn ANYTHING. I tried to learn on my own but hopeless. Class average was a "D" what does that tell you about his instructing? I thankfully passed with a "C" only because of the huge curve. thank god this is over. sorry future students

Lecture is useless. His English is very poor and it's even worse in his book which is filled with typos. Exams are relatively easy, but grading scale is rough. 28 out of 30 is a low A. I think there might have been quite a bit of cheating in back. You won't learn anything from him. Exams are all algebra. Just learn to manipulate his formulas.

He is the most useless professor here. Usually I'm good at understanding accents, but with shim I couldn't understand a word. He changes the grading scale with each test. He also presents the problems differently on the tests than in class or on the homework. If you get stuck with him, drop the class and wait for a different teacher!

It's pointless going to class! He let's the students do most of the talking every class meeting with presenting homework problems, and then he himself maybe talks for only 10-15 mins. After the 2nd test, about 1/4 of the class had 50% or below (out of a large lecture hall class). It's better to just study on your own.

Extremely useful & easy. I got perfect score in 3 exams w/o cheating, studying on my own plus his hints(incl question #s, highlighted materials). His book is easy to understand. No attendence req'd but show up in preview meeting. Easy presentation, copy answer from his book and post on projector, he'll actually do the talk..., skip chapters too...

You will regret taking this guy. You don't need to go to class, but trying to study for the tests are next to impossible in his poorly self-written book. For a few of the chapters the answer sets were wrong and most of the grammar is terrible. Take a different teacher if you can.

Makes you buy his own book which is poorly written, expensive, and filled with mistakes in the practice problems..which he didnt bother to tell anyone about. If you enjoy learning on your own, take him.
