Comment:

Jane is one of the best English teachers I've ever had. She sincerely cares about the students and shows it through her high-expectations and high-support teaching style. She gives clear rubrics and examples for all of the papers and sincerely wants everyone to succeed. Work hard, get started ASAP on the essays, and you'll do great.

Comment:

I hate English but I Jane made this class a million times better. She is very straightforward with what she wants and gives copied papers of past students work so you have examples of what she is looking for. She is also very one on one, and homework assignments were not hard at all. You have to do the work, but it is not hard at all.

Comment:

Jane is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is professional and firm yet caring and understanding. She is easy to get a hold of and has a steady means of accessing class content and homework at any time for any day of the semester. The grading expectations are clear and follow through. I would highly recommend taking her for English.

I HATE writing and she made it so that I could improve on each paper and get a good grade. Before each paper she spends like 3 classes on info that will help you write it. She is a little rough grading but that's only because so specific on instructions. TURN THEM IN ON TIME! good class!

Jane was a good teacher overall. She has 3 main categories for a grade, 4 papers gradually getting longer in length, and a final paper. 2x2's based on a short reading assignment, and attendance. If you show up every time, do your 1 homework assignment a week, and can write a decent paper you will do great in this class.

Jane was great at the beginning of the semester with her grading criteria--she gave us clear instructions on the first couple essays. However, as the semester went on, the assignments didn't get explained. Our last paper didn't even have a rubric--our only help was two examples of previous papers she had and part of one class period of instruction.

I love Jane! I honestly want to cry at the thought that this class is over. Jane is an extremely clear-cut and helpful. Her rubric tells you exactly what you need to do and she holds conferences to discuss your papers. Jane truly cares about her students and wants everyone to do well. She's the best teacher I've had at BYU!

Comment:

Honors writing classes are easier than regular writing classes. Same papers, just minus all the busy work. Jane's class was simple and organized as long as you know how to read a calendar. About 1 paper every 10 days and that's it. Graded fairly, but not a walk in the park. Offered great feedback in workshops.

Professor Brady was a really fun teacher. We had discussions in class regularly that were interesting and engaging. She is really good at respecting the opinions of students. Lots of writing but that should be expected. I would definitely recommend.

Jane is so awesome! She cares about everyone and has everyone's names down by the 2nd class. She is always willing to meet with you. She had everyone over for dinner and made class fun. This class was definitely one of my favorites in my college career thus far.

She cares deeply about every student--at least that's what I observed. She took time with me whenever I went in to speak with her outside class and I found that time helpful. I felt like I learned quite a bit and the classes were fun too.

Jane, I'm sure, is interested in English and wants others to like it as well. However, her instructions were often unclear and she missed deadlines and did not make it clear when things were due. Her responses to emails were also very delayed, sometimes weeks in between. I would suggest another teacher for this course.

Comment:

Jane is the best teacher I have had at BYU. She really cares about her students. She will know your name by the second time you come to class. She gives a very reasonable workload and clear instructions. She isn't a hard grader if you follow her rules. It was a pleasure to take Honors 150 from her, and I would highly recommend her class to anyone.

Jane is a great teacher, and you'll learn a lot about writing in her class. I think this class is vital to your college education. However, the class is HARD. She is one of the toughest graders I have. Getting an A is possible, but you'll have to work your bum off. Still, though, its a great class and I recommend her.

Great professor!! The class was always fun. The research paper was based of a service project, and really manageable. Her personality is what makes the class great; you always feel comfortable, and aren't intimidated by the work. The atmosphere is more like a study group or book club setting than a class, which makes it so much more enjoyable.
