Comment:
Kwon knows so much about insurance and he's one of the few professors I can actually pay attention to lectures. The only downside is he's very intimidating in my opinion but he wants the best for his students. His tests are not easy but if you read the chapters and study you'll be happy with your grade.

Rich Homie Kwon is a mediocre professor at best. His lectures are pretty interesting to listen to (if you could understand him), but his tests and quizzes really have nothing to do with what he talks about in class. He gave us a lot of little take home quizzes which were kinda easy, but the in class tests were near impossible.

Comment:
By far the worst professor on the Manhattan campus. He talks about random stuff during the lecture and then gives you a quiz on something else. The final had an open book part but bringing the textbook didn't help AT ALL. I would never recommend taking this professor unless you HAVE to

Dr. Kwon is not that good as he pretends. I took him but was kind of difficult to understand. He will ask you to buy his book even when you do not need it. More business then real teaching. Take instead Dr. Steinhort.

He really knows his stuff and he really wants to help you. Yes, he does have an accent, but he speaks perfect English and it's very easy to understand him. Weekly quizzes based on the textbook but he practically does them with you. Gives very clear and concise notes based on powerpoints on Blackboard. Would definitely take again, he's a great guy.

Dr. Kwon is knowledgeable about the insurance industry but always likes to be recognized for his achievements. Focuses on readings and journals that he assigns. Powerpoints were helpful but his lectures drag on a bit. His tests are based on powerpoints and all the random facts he gives in class so you have to pay attention. You have to put in work.

His class is quite difficult, and you MUST do the readings if you hope to pass. However, if you like the subject and are not lazy you can do well. Got an A, but I read all the assigned chapters and studies for the tests.

Had Kwon for RMI 601 and 614. If given the choice, navigate around this horrible man. He does not communicate with students, only lectures and speaks rather than allowing you to ask questions. He has horrible english and will treat you like an idiot if you have questions. He grades HARSHLY and will enforce his textbook which is expensive & worthles

Unless you want to listen to Kwon tell you how much he knows about reinsurance, don't take this class. Lecture is not participative, he speaks and thats it. Impossible exams, no student input, won't change his ways for anyone. Dry and straight from the text. This is a warning.

Prof. Kwon must be writing these reviews himself. Anyone in Risk or Insurance taking 601, 614 or any other class with this professor be weary. He is absolutely horrible. You will be forced to buy his textbook for 601, which he wrote himself and is riddled with errors. He is barely literate and can hardly pronounce Insurance (says INSHOOINCE).AVOID!

Professor is a very nice and helpful guy. He also has an immense amount of knowledge of the insurance industry. He gives challenging group assignments but they are not so bad. For the all essay final he gave the possible questions ahead of time and all the questions came from there, so you know what to prepare for, though still challenging.

Interesting class, though sometimes confusing. Kwon knows his stuff and is really nice person to talk to. Curves a lot. Tests a bit tricky, esp. multiple choice. Take it if you have to...
