He is one of the best professors ever. He is an old school liberal and if you don't take his class you will regret that you missed out on learning from someone of that golden generation.

Took him 3 times for my Non-western history credits. Man can speak fluent Chinese! Extremely intelligent and knowledgable. Classes were all reading and writing, but it's history, so you should be expecting that. Take him over Carey if Latin America and Women studies bore you.

Not an easy A whatsoever, Homework is only reading every week, Only one written assignment for homework, you have to pay attention to detail which is hard because he can be quite boring. Not recommended to take his 3 hours classes. Deffinately an intelligent person but hard to meet expectations on midterm and final

Very talkative and knows his stuff. his class is basically lecture but you most likely wont remember anything he says since you can't take notes with the talking pace he is at. This is where the textbook comes along. If you read the textbook you will do very well on the test. There is also a paper to be done but easy. interesting class.

His classes are very boring and he goes all over the place. Sometimes you won't understand what he is talking about because he goes off topic. Overall hes an easy teacher. Very nice and helpful. Doesn't take attendence one 5 paged paper and 2-3 books for the class. read the books and u will be ok in the class. if you know the stuff its an easy A

He is extremely scholarly and smart within his field of Asian history. That being said, he will go off on tangents about said subject whenever he feels like it, and most people are in the class because its a major requirement.

Doesn't take attendence, assigned one 5 page paper, and 2-to-3 books, all nice reads. Notes are hard to take because of the pace, but you manage to get enough down. He's boring, but very very nice, and knows his stuff inside out. He speaks several Asian languages. wasn't an easy A, but I didn't kill myself. Highly recommended for his majors.

Dr. Kinkley is awesome. He only teaches Chinese/Asian History. But Take him for non-western requirements in history major. His work load is less than Carey, and you learn so much. He graduated from Harvard and University of Chicago. Can't get any better than that! Take one of the best at St. Johns! Exams are difficult though, but you need to study!

Doesn't take attendance, Doesn't give Test Questions beforehand, Mumbles when speaking, Test are in essay form. He's a lousy teacher, doesn't care if your there or not, oh and your grade is based on your participation and final.

the whole class is based on participation--so participate! it's worth 40% of your grade. make sure he knows your name! midterm is 10% of your grade and the final is 50% you have to do the readings every night cuz if you dont youre lost in class and cant participate.
