Lame... class is boring, everything you need to learn is on his website, labs included. Class is more about memorizing taxonomy, instead of biological concepts. I could spend my time making notes of the complete lab .pdf file instead of wasting time looking at microscope frames.

Reptile & Amph. of the NW.. We never used our text book once; let alone opened it.. We used the field study guide only.. Each class day was us printing out our own slides, and then filling in the answers on study guides which he also had us print out. No homework, only mid term and final. Which are WORD FOR WORD the study guides. Worked my ass off.

I loved this class, it was very chill and interesting. only 2 tests that u needed to study for. Otherwise hands-on and he has a lot of reptiles and snakes and frogs to memorize but it was fun i thought.

If you long early morning, long boring classes, this is for you. I wish I didn't take this class just because this is not how I learn. The only good thing is if your an hour late, he doesn't care. But you have a test every week and you have to memorize a lot. I wouldn't recommend this prof.

165 is a lab class and Campbell simply gives you an overview of what u need to learn and then you're on your own. I would have liked a little more help or activities in class cause I felt like I got just as much knowledge studying from note cards as I did in class. Overall not so hard of a class. But challenging for only 1 credit.

Campbell is a boring teacher. Class was a drag and you are expected to memorize a lot. There are tests every week and the final is really long with questions we didn't even go over in class.

Love this man. Great explanations with stories to boot. He's not your grandpa, you have to earn your grade. Test questions come right off of the study guide. He knows his stuff more than most professors I've had. I'm surprised at the amount of teething babies on this web site.

His class is very hard if you don't pay attention and don't show up. If you do that and study , you should have no problem. He has very interesting stories to tell and has done a lot of interesting things. If you attend class, you'll probably hear some of them. Go to class and study and you'll do just fine.

If you have taken basic high school biology, this class should be review for you. If you have not, be prepared to study a lot. Lots of memorization required to pass weekly quizes. Goes over information quickly, doesn't answer questions well. Consider labs independant study with little instruction. He thorougly enjoys talking about reptiles

I'm a pre-med student and I've never thoguht of biology to be boring until i toook this class. His lectures are power-points in which he doesn't clearly explain the topic. If you ask him questions he'll begin to answer them but will randomly stop talking and move on. Almost like he's being forced to teach.

Super boring. Requires a LOT of memorization. Simply list and name stuff; not much explanation. Doesn't explain anything in lab either. Goes too fast on lecture - won't give you time to take notes. If you're self-motivated and good at memorizing, then this class probably won't be too bad for you.

Jim is an awesome instructor. The only reason people hate him is because they hate the subject. His lectures are fun and interesting, but make sure you study the textbook for terminology on the written exams. The lab practicals are very difficult, so devote a lot of time to that. Overall, he's a great professor and I really recommend him!

first he makes us buy HIS 170$ book, then he doesnt even use it. Lectures are pointless, he doesnt cover anything youll ever need for the class. His labs are HORRIBLE. He couldnt come up with anything so he decided to just have you memorize 80 species/ lab, common-name phylum subphylum order and class. like a biologist cant have a book in the field

All of the class material is available to download from his website (no book). Lecture time is spent reviewing what's on his website so you can listen/learn in class. The material covered is all the basics needed to go on to advanced classes. Wkly quizzes are relatively easy. I learned alot in class but I'm also very interested in this subject.

All over the place, unorganized, and unhelpful. All he does is stand in front of the class and read his lecture notes. Might as well be sent home with the book to just read and come to class only to take the test. I find it difficult to stay conscious in class. If you learn through listening, this is the class for you.

Great professor. Won't hold your hand. If you want an A he'll give you one. If you fail, it's solely your fault. Grow up and be serious, or leave so it's not so hard for me to find a parking spot!

I had him for lecture only and basically - his lectures were all over the board and not structured. We knew what we would be tested over because of the handouts. Many fall asleep during lecture. Many female students felt he was not approachable... I would
