one of the most successful and well known professors in the music building, this man is very knowledgable. It seems he knows this too because he has high expectations from all of his students which if you are dedicated you should thank him for his encouragement. I wont lie when i first met schimek I was intimidated but im thankful for his impact.

Calls himself "Dr." but doesn't have that degree. Horrible bassist who's never had a symphony contract though he claims to have w/Fort Worth and OKC but he lies. Flirts with/takes emotional advantage of female students especially foreign ones. Unethical, unprofessional, cruel, backstabbing, and holds grudges forever and makes your life miserable.

This professor is unprofessional, unfair, and unethical. He has shared private grades of one student with others, he flirts with female students, he requires you to buy references for class directly from him, he belittles those who are not interested in kissing up, and he never forgives or forgets. Watch out for him, and run away quickly!

He just isn't that great of a bass player. And anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. Anthony Stoops and George Speed are two great Bassists in Oklahoma, and he is not. He is not a Doctor, do not be confused about this. He has no degree from an accredited school. Ask him yourself.

He is extremely disorganized. He was always 5 to 10 minutes late to class. He gives dirty looks and makes horrible comments during class. He does not follow the syllabus. If you get on his bad side, even once, you will not live it down and he will make your life very difficult. He picks where you student teach. Even if you don't like him, pretend.

this guy is a tool bag! will tell you all day long about how great of a teacher he is and all the organizations he works and teaches with, but has yet to (in 4 freaking years) back it up. the guy is a joke in my mind, and full of crap. if hes as good of a teacher as he says he is, there are some messed up kids out there

Dr. Schimek taught me a lot about how to practice, for that, I owe him greatly. He is a good teacher, but not a very good person. He is immature - he will go to great lengths to mock his male students and overtly flirt with females students in the hall in a sickening fashion.

Dr. Schimek is the most helpful professor I have ever met. He goes out of his way to make sure that his students are successful. Students that don't feel this way likely have some maturing to do. Be accountable & professional, & he will be your ally.
