Pretty solid professor. He is really nice with his feedback but doesn't hold back his honesty when necessary. I didn't like him at first because he was loud and didn't like a lot of the projects but he grew on me after a while because he gives great personal feedback and I felt like I could be really open with him. Makes you feel comfortable.

Stauber is a great teacher, he knows exactly what he is talking about and will inspire you to create all kinds of crazy art. He brings cookies and chocolate to crit and creates a positive environment for everyone to be comfortable speaking in.

Had him for Silk Screening. He did not pay any attention for the assignment requirements and let students off if their work had good feedback from other students only. He is a bit immature and somewhat unprofessional.

Comment:
Had him for a junior printmaking seminar class. it was boring and did not hold the interest of the students AT ALL. HE THOUGHT teaching this like an anthropology class was "A great way to look at art." Apparently he was the only one that may have enjoyed this class. Made us all want to quit school be the time each class ended. USELESS.

If you are thinking about taking a printmaking seminar class. DO NOT TAKE THIS. we talked nothing about printmaking. He has shown characteristics of a pathetic little child in how he handled our class and our criticism. Very unprofessional, catty, and immature. Worst class and teacher I've had in my Pratt experience, also terrible for drawing.

More suited as a seminar professor than a life study drawing teacher

He encourages you to go beyond anything you've ever done and find yourself, both personally and in temrs of media. Ok, but I'm 20 will never totally know myself and one semester is not enough to find what medium to work with let alone be graded well for it. But if you can meet the challenge he is inspiring.

At first I didn't really like him. Then he was SUPER helpful and encouraging. He really makes you work harder and think with out being a jerk. Be true to what your style is and you will really make some great work.

i enjoyed how joe would allow me to make up my own projects, just as long as they were of equal amount or more work than his proposed project. great professor.

he encourages you to make art, something that is your own and fresh (ie not constantly sampling from the 50's which seems to be hip now). easy going, brings us donuts for the crits. i appreciate that he wants us to make art and not produce something for the same of the assignment. go da extra mile

silkscreening made AWESOME. stauber doesn't want techies, he doesn't want stylists, he wants CONTENT. very rare at pratt. total mind blower.
