Has a clear wealth of knowledge, but gets off topic easily and rambles. Occasionally provides conflicting information when compared to textbook. Occasionally confuses historical figures, events, and chronological order. Not tech savvy, habit of not responding to e-mails. Genial and friendly person, but not flexible with workload and attendance.

Took NYC History with him, and it was actually horrible. If you don't read the books, you're screwed. He makes way too many analogies that don't really fit in with the context of the class. I learned more from the Ken Burns documentaries he had us watch in class than I did from him. On one of the tests, he didn't even leave feedback.

Did the reading, didn't miss a class, showed up on time, brought a pen, took notes. Grade consists of 4 essays; 3 of which you can use your notes for, 2 of which you can use the books for. Easy to succeed with this wonderful professor if you care. Took NYC history class- documentaries were fun, factoids were useful. Loved it! First class @ Purchase

I took his Intro. to U.S. History class and I was also the TA for that same class the next semester. It was totally worth it! He is passionate about what he teaches, pretty easy going and I am taking another one of his courses. He can get a little off topic, but he is pretty funny, knowledgeable and truly wants to help his students.

Love this professor. No one teaches as clearly as he does. Spells out exactly what you're going to do and I always found it simple to take great notes from his lectures. (can't say that about every teacher at this school, espc in history) VERY clear and you will learn a lot. If you don't like his tangents then tune out. I never minded them.

He's a really wonderful nice guy who loves history, but unfortunately that's it. When I took his class I felt like we skipped over major events (like World War II), and I had an extreme desire to take this class. His NYC History class wasn't balanced and we spent too much time on Dutch NY and never got past the 1930's. I just felt cheated out on

For those of you complaining about Professor Verdiccio, my guess is that you did not put in an adequate amount of time to write an effective essay. I have been in three of his classes and was his TA for two semesters. All you have to do is follow the 5 W's strategy, do the assigned reading, and talk in class. Do your work! You paid for college!

Still don't understand how I got a C in his class. He grades the tests very hard, and seems to grade 65 essays over night. Overall his notes are easy, but it gets boring. He goes off topic sometimes.

I loved Professor Verdicchio! He was witty, funny, and made history interesting. I loved how he taught history from the perspective of the people and not just from the winners perspective. If you take good notes and actually pay attention you will do well. This teacher changed my outlook on history. Now i love history and i am eager to know more.

His teaching style is weird and hard to follow. He never stays after class, so it's hard to talk to him. On exams and essays he will not rephrase anything (it is worded awkwardly)and the format to follow is weird as well. Brilliant guy but horrible teacher. Beware of his objective section on exams, and take notes!

He is my favorite professor thus far here. As long as you go to every class and take down what he says, you will get a good grade. He gets right to the point in lessons and is a very good speaker. He makes learning about history less overwhelming.

He IS a nice guy, but a HORRIBLE professor. He would assign one thing, then say you didn't do that when he graded it. I did not see one student receive a grade higher than B+ on an assignment. If you can memorize the life of Howard Zinn, you're gold. If not, you're screwed! RUN! RUN! RUN AWAY!!

i ADORE professor verdicchio. yes, he goes off on tangents, but he is a brilliant man and enthusiastic teacher. even though he's an adjunct i'm hoping he'll be one of my senior project readers purely because he's so knowledgeable and fair. for those of you claiming he's an unfair grader and such, you're probably just not doing the requisite work...

Almost impossible to do well in his class. In a class of over 100, nobody did well on the exams. Clearly he is doing something wrong. Avoid this professor at all costs.

Answers questions in a roundabout way, goes on constant tangents, teaches with a ridiculously left wing bias even for Purchase, patronizing attitude, hard grader, kind of a prick.
