Professor Sweeney is incredibly knowledgeable, and you can tell she really loves the subject she teaches. If you have the chance to take Popular Culture in Early Modern Europe, do not pass it up. She does assign a lot of reading but if you give yourself enough time it's usually fascinating. She gives a lot of essay feedback. 11/10 would take again

Hard professor did not like as an advisor. Gave me conflicting advice and tried to push her beliefs of what I should do on to me. Often felt put down and she told me not to declare early which had me miss out on 2 important classes for my majors. Declared and had difficulty getting her to sign so I could get new advisors. Smart/good but not for me

Professor Sweeney is a very passionate professor who gives detailed lectures with a number of primary and secondary sources as visuals aids to provide context. Though she lectures a lot, participation is important in the classroom and she is great at answering question and fostering group discussion. She is wonderful to go talk to outside of class

Comment:

Professor Sweeney is one of the best professors in the History department. She is a tough grader and assigns a lot of readings. Personally, I had a rough start in the course but because she is so approachable and understanding, she helped me with a plan to finish the semester on a great note.

Average to below average professor. Lectures are uninteresting. Readings are usually somewhat interesting, especially towards the latter half of the semester. Grades relatively fairly. Exams are not easy. Gets assignments back unjustifiably late. Overall, okay.

She is a good and knowledgeble professor. Assinges too much reading, but if you are interested in history, you should be fine with this. I like her attendace policy and I feel have learened a lot from her classes - she is hard, but fair and reasonable

She gives you a TON of reading and you take so many notes and have a cumulative final.I learned a lot, but unless you are a history major or really into it,I don't know if I'd recommend her b/c of the amount of work involved.She will read your papers ahead of time though,and met with us individually to discuss them. Comment:

Prof. Sweeney was great. I have a hard time with history classes in general and this class was challenging but Sweeney presented everything in a very organized, straightforward way, always highlighting the general themes that eventually appear on the tests. I would highly reccommend her to other students.

Good prof. You will take tons of notes in class. To get a good grade (esp in her 200-level courses) you will have to put in quite a bit of effort. I averaged b+'s in that class with more work than it usually takes me to do so well in other classes. Helpful outside of class. Very straightforward and takes no ****.

professor sweeney is one of the worst professors i have had at dickinson. doesnt she realize that a 100-level course should have 100-level material? she is extremely hard and not worth your time. take my advice!
