Justin is a great professor. Very intelligent and caring. The reAding he assigned were quite dense, but he is always willing to help you - even outside of his office hours. One of the best classes I even taken.

Justin Crumbaugh is a fine professor if a little uncomfortable to listen to. The class is mostly discussion-based, but if the students aren't into it, there ends up being a lot of long awkward pauses. A lot of readings assigned that I didn't read. There were two quizzes and 3 essays? He's a really easy grader, I did not deserve the grade I got.

Very kind man, very awkward but very intelligent. Discussions are interesting if the others in the class like the material. There are some awkward silences, but he's really interested in what students have to say both in class and in papers. Dense readings but not too much work.

Comment:
He's ok. He's definitely very clever but on the other hand he can be awkward enough that the discussions stall and stop. I did learn a lot and the topic was really interesting, and the discussions were occasionally good, though a lot of time it was like he was pulling the words out of us. His expectations can sometimes be vague.

This is by far one of the best classes I have ever taken. Workload is reasonable and great discussion. The class content varied from literature, movies, poetry, and regular reading. He is very knowledgeable and definitely a guru in the subject. He is open to suggestions and very understanding. He is a little awkward sometimes but in a nerdy way.

Justin knows his subject, although sometimes class with him is a little awkward because he is, but in a cute way. He interests people, and I learned a lot from him. This was my first class at Mount Holyoke (I was a Spanish minor at Smith) and I took 3 more at Moho (1 more with Justin) partially because of the impression Justin made on me.

Comment:
I don't understand what students mean by biased. I found professor Crumbaugh's course to be extremely enlightening in the way we related different art forms to historical and political contexts. I didn't see any specific agenda other than learning to think critically and make abstract and concrete connections. I loved this course!

I agree that he is very passionate about what he teaches, but that makes him not be objective at all. I agree that he is very bias and unfair.

His arguments were extremely bias. For example, he was very critical of Spanish nationalism, but he seemed to be a Basque nationalist himself.

Justin is awesome. He was never anything but supportive to me. Like any professor, he challenged his students, so be prepared to work for him. He is always available to chat during office hours, which i recommend taking advantage of if you feel like you don't understand the material. Justin is great, and I highly recommend his classes.

I've taken 2 classes with Justin and think he's a decent prof & charming guy. He's far better in upper level classes than elementary. His demeanor in class is more nervous than acidic, and this may be why some think he's abrupt or rude. I worked very hard in his composition class and got SO much out of it. Speak w him outside of class!

Parts of the class were interesting but over all it was a mistake to take it. I talked to three people who cried after going to talk to him after class he was so unhelpful and condicending. He did not stick to the sylabus. Readings could be seen as offensive. I don't recomend his class to anyone.

Justin is an amazing professor, his class is tough, he expects a lot out of you on your papers, but he is always there to help. If your a self motivated student you will love his open discussion class format that really teaches you to analyze the literature.
