He's a nice man and good person but not teaching wise. The class is hard if you don't know much premodern world history. Reading the book can be some what helpful. Just write the key words from the board and study and know them. He only straight lectures. Not power points or such. Make sure to write what he lectures, but it can be a lot. Good luck!

All you have to do to pass this class is show up, as with most. No homework just a few large assignments, tests and a paper. Everything is straight forward with him and he has got a wonderful, sometimes dark humor but never inappropriate. He is completely willing to give everyone a chance to pass but they just need to take advantage of it.

Prof Fischer really knows his stuff, and his lectures are always interesting. Even though he assigns readings from the book, all test questions come directly from his lectures. So just go to class, listen and take notes, and you'll do well.

Prof Fischer is the best teacher I've had at HCC. He makes understanding History fun, and relates past events to the present. He is very helpful and answers each question thoroughly. He genuinely cares about his students and his love for History, which is reflected in his lectures. I HIGHLY recommend, especially for History majors like myself.

Professor Fischer is a great teacher. He's funny and makes the material easy to learn. His final paper will be a bit long, but it's the only one he assigns throughout the entire year. Attendance is pretty mandatory as it's a lecture, but as long as you're doing well, he won't raise a fuss if you miss some classes. Repeat as long as you're doing wel

Wonderful teacher. If you take his class don't even bother buying the text all you need to do is listen to the lectures which are entertaining and take notes. When he retires it will be a great loss to the educational community

Great person and very passionate, not very sympathetic and understanding. He can come off as being a lot worse than he really is but his understanding of history and his sarcasm are unmatched in my opinion. I chose to be a history major because of this professor.
