Comment:
Korobkin was smart & kind of crazy. The exams were kind of insane. They were basically a series of 5 short essays that we wrote in one class period. We were expected to have some deeper thoughts on every single text we read and be able to spit them out when asked. If you're good at analyzing texts and participating in discussion, you'll be good.

Korobkin is a really knowledgeable professor. This course is structured really well, and you will learn a lot. You have to stay on top of the readings, because she likes the people who talk and contribute in her class. Definitely ask for guidance when it comes to writing papers, she will give you really good feedback to refine your argument.

Korobkin is a very passionate and understanding professor. She is really knowledgeable about what she teaches but is in no way condescending, she helps her students attain this knowledge by themselves. As long as you read the assignments and participate you will be good.

She was honestly born to teach. She's passionate, chill, and interesting. Super passionate about the topics. I wasn't that interested in the books on their own, but her drive in class made me interested. She praises people on track, but kindly steers people who miss the point on track. Strict on things like lateness and slacking. Would take again.

Professor Korbokin is knowledgeable, fair, and an interesting lecturer. She demands precision in writing, something that I appreciate as an English student, but gives good feedback to support her expectations. I have taken a few English classes with her now and felt privileged each time. She makes the text come alive during discussions.

2 tests, 2 papers, and 6 books. Not a hard class at all. Just show up and stay caught up on your reading and you'll do fine. Books aren't terrible either. Class is mainly just discussing the books you read.

She loves when you jump in; she is extremely knowledgeable and able to stimulate a lot of interest. For the final, she asks the class to come up with essay topics and will take from those. She's really funny and incredibly helpful -- go to her office hours and she'll give you great feedback. Basically one of the best profs I've had at BU.

I absolutely loved my American Literature class with Korobkin! She is very knowledgable and passionate about the novels we read and sparked a real interest in the whole class which lead to great discussions. She isn't the easiest grader I've ever had but if you go to class and do all the reading you will have no trouble getting at least a B.

Loved this class! Professor Korobkin chose great books that really worked well with each other. She's very good at letting her students discuss in class with her, and very thought provoking. Sometimes she can be a little blunt, but it works for her. Definitely take her class if you can!

She has high standards and is almost intimidatingly knowledgeable, but she wants you to succeed and will assist you if you ask for it. She expects extremely polished papers and thorough reading, but if you prepare well you will be just fine.

Korobkin is awesome! This was my second time having her as a Professor and by far one of my favorites. She makes a seemingly boring topic interesting, really encourages class participation (which actually makes the class all the better), and is helpful in office hours. Her directions for papers and exams are clear. Take her class!!!

One of my favorite English professors to date. Kept the class interesting and the students engaged, and really listened to what the students wanted. You'll have to work hard, but it's worth it. Even if you're not crazy about the subject at the start, you will be by the end.

I am just completing the 19th Century American novel class with Prof. Korobkin and cannot say enough good things about her. Her classes are structured, her lectures are interesting, and she truly appreciates her students' comments and discussion. Her enthusiasm for what she teaches is contagious, she's hilarious...definitely take her classes.

I like her and her class at first but then realized it was just all ****in stupid. I read all the books and tried hard, but only got a B. She apparently did not like my writing style or something. She doesn't help you write better papers, she just gives you a grade. kids who didnt read any of the books did better bc they could write papers better.

I don't know what everyone is talking about. En 141 is a great class! I enjoyed all the books, and anything I didn't understand was easily and clearly explained in class. Grading is not easy nor hard, I got a B but I could have tried harder for an A. She's very clear, a very nice person and a great teacher.

The most worthless class I have ever taken at BU. I'm an English minor, love literature, and never had to read a single book assigned. I was completely bored with this class. Never delves deep into symbolism or greater meaning of novels. Flat out MEAN.
