Linda is a great lecturer and you will learn so much. This is the hardest class I've taken, but you shouldn't believe the fearmongering on this page. If you take the class seriously and study hard, you should pass. If you must get an A take it somewhere else. You cannot start studying a couple days before the midterms, you will straight up fail.

Linda is the most down to earth profs I've ever had! Go to her office hours and just talk to her if you get a chance! Her class is very difficult but go to ALL the lectures! She podcast them but don't count on that because you will need to hear stuff more than once. Also read the book and know the material inside and out. Very difficult tests.

Linda is super knowledgable and welcomes all questions about anything she lectures about. Read the book, take your own notes, write down everything she says in lecture and actively listen to every single word she says. Memorize everything you possibly can and you will be able to apply it on the tests. Only the MCAT was harder than her exams FYI...

I admit, I love Linda. I took every class she offered, and while I may have studied harder than any other class, I learned so much applicable information. She is by far the best. You must attend her office hours because she is the sweetest and is extremely personable. Best way to study for 130 was in small groups and using USMLE Q-banks.

Linda is the nicest professor you'll ever meet, and then she'll give you post doctorate exams and expect you to think like a doctor. Her final, which is worth 50%, was impossibly difficult and long. Don't spend a second doing her calculation problems because you'll probably get zeroes on every single one because they're unlike what she taught.

Attend class, write down lectures after class (verbatim), and read the book. It also helps to talk about things with friends just so that you can say things out loud. You will have try, but it's possible!

Very difficult course. Her lectures don't teach at a level that will prepare you for exams. Exams are extremely difficult. Averages were in the 50's% for both midterms. She's very nice, approachable & available outside of class, but doesn't mean she will really help. Take somewhere else w/ more realistic expectations if you want to get an A.

Tests were super hard. Reading the book plus listening to the podcasts after lecture really helped. Find a study buddy to bounce ideas off of, helps you understand the concepts. Give this class your all, and take the lab during the class, it totally helps you understand the concepts more.

Linda is a born lecturer and you will leave the class with a ton more knowledge than before, given that you have the slightest of interest in endo. That said, she the hardest prof I have ever had, with the toughest & most relentless exams ever. Put the time it & it'll be worth it - don't and you will be struggling to pass...

Mammalian Endocrinology is extremely tedious and time consuming -if you don't give each midterm your all you wont stand a chance on the final-which is cumulative. Despite how hard this course was Ogren was an amazing teaching and always had nothing but positive things to say. I wouldn't have passed without going to her office hours.

Possibly the hardest bio class offered. If you stay on track, go to every section, and above all, TRY, you can get an A. Anything less, you will crash and burn. New material builds upon old, so keep up. Linda is awesome, material is awesome. Don't take this if you're semi-interested.

Ogren is a wonderful person and and has been by far the best professor at UC Santa Cruz. She really knows her stuff and can teach it to perfection. However, if you plan on taking this class, or any with her, stay up to date and put in A LOT of effort from the BEGINNING! For her exams be as detailed and specific as possible.

Teaches at a CP Biology level from high school and administers post-medical school examinations. STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN. Is on a power trip if you ask most people. Average fail rate each term is about 66%.

Linda is by far the best professor at UCSC. She is extremely approachable and always willing to answer any questions you may have. Her exams are very difficlt, but always fair and only consist of information she puts on the topic lists that she posts. Don't let the rumors of Linda scare you away from the course, easily my fav class and professor

One of the hardest classes I've ever taken. Linda is an amazing teacher who actually cares about her students. The knowledge expected for her tests is way more detailed than her lectures, but duh: lectures are only an hour long. She doesn't just want you to master her class-- she wants you to master physiology. And she's always willing to help.

Honest Breakdown on her: It's a make or break class. During the lecture she teaches well and answers your questions. She wants you to do well. However, on her tests it a different story. She expects you to apply the knowledge you learned in a paragraph format. You won't have enough time, and she nitpicks on any missing details. High 75-85 is an A.

The tests would not be difficult if she taught the class at the same level. Instead she condescends all concepts simplifies them to a point that becomes useless for the test.
