Comment:

Nancy Leonard is an exceptional teacher who pushes her students to do the best they can. The class I took with her consisted of intense close reading and dynamic discussions. Although I disliked her use of pop quizzes, overall I immensely enjoyed her class. Anyone who is willing to work hard will see results by the end of the course.

Comment:

Nancy Leonard obviously cares deeply about her students. She can be difficult and demanding in the classroom, but she just wants to make sure every student grasps the concepts. She is always willing to acknowledge a student who has done well. In and out of class, I know she would have my back. I had a great first semester with her.

Comment:

Nancy is a tough teacher, makes you write a ton, and requires you to be at your best every class. She makes sure that all her FYSEM students leave her classroom with a good grasp of critical writing and a clear understanding of the texts. I can't say enough good things about her.

She was my professor in 1976 and was fantastic and obviously memorable. I learned more from her than ten other professors combined. A very, very special person and gifted teacher.

Fights like hell to make students understand the value of the reading in front of them. An amazingly dedicated teacher who cares to the point of tears that we aquire some sort of literary/historical legacy before we leave this pretty place.

Nancy is funny, intimidating, and very smart. She is a bit eccentric but as long as you figure out what she wants and expects you'll do fine. She really cares whether you do well and will bend over backwards to get the best out of you and will encourage you the whole way.

Nancy Leonard will scare the crap out of you when you first meet her; she has a wild mane of fake blonde hair. She will intimidate you for about two weeks, but then you will see her as one of the most hilarious, brilliant human beings on the face of the earth. She is a fair grader, and a tough teacher, but she really isnt anything to be scared of

Nancy's so weird. Has random outbursts and yells and swears once a month. Is super nice and funny the rest of the time. While her class can be useless, I love her because I think she's a smidge crazy.

Crazy, intimidating, half deaf, brilliant. Scares a lot of students away, but it's worth sticking it out. Really knows and loves her stuff. Can be helpful, but only if you go and ask her for it. Not a hand-holder, and not easy. Eccentricities can actually become amusing with time.

For the most part, she is a great professor, yet gets offended very easily about certain things that no one else understands...very confusing regarding essays...doesn't make clear what she wants...I get the impression she doesn't understand what students are trying to say a lot...Gets distracted easily and goes off on random tangents...

I'm sorry to say that Bard employs this woman. It seems that, once upon a time, in a distant fictional land, she was a good professor. Now she is a gross pedant. I have frequently gotten the impression that she does not understand her course material or what students say. She makes you stupider.

She is intimidating in class, even if I think I might have something worthwhile to say. But her classes are almost entirely based on class discussion, and she leads it excellently. Highly intelligent, very often hard, and always enjoyable.
