Very understanding and helpful. Accounting and Finance is not for everyone and he understands that this course may be a requirement for some. He will work with you if you reach out to him letting him know that you are struggling. I learned many things in his course. Recommendations: Study for the exams! Attend all lectures and ask questions!!

Prof. Brackon was a little unclear regarding the paper could be because it was the first time he had to assign a paper... He always grades the homework... wants you to participate in class.. extra points if you are there. you are divided into groups to work with - spend the group time well. they help you!

study and do your homework, in a timely matter. Take good notes. Read and study, don't get behind. Extremely fair tests. you will learn. Get in a group where everyone is a A or B student. Write clearly.

I was afraid to take this class at first, but after I took this class, I was more confident in accounting, and understood it so much better. He is fair, and you must do your homework because he grades it, yet group project and tests help you. But better to just learn it to help yourself on tests and with your group tests. Lots to study.

After reading comments on this site, I was nervous about taking this class. But after taking his class, I not only learned a lot, but enjoyed his class. He was a good teacher and he had videos that made the topic more relevant then reading out of the textbook. Not a lot of direction on the project, but he let you take it in the direction you wanted

Teacher was very unapproachable and not available outside of class. He must of needed that vacation he took, and was out of country for a week. He lectures way too fast and thinks we are accounting majors. was extremely difficult class. dont depend on just your cheat sheet for exams. study a lot and i mean a lot and make sure u get to class.

Mr. Brackon is an instructor that is set in his ways. He gives very little direction on portfolio project. Articles are a waste of time since he marks you down if he doesn't agree with your opinion./Tests are strictly from his teacher text- can be quite difficult if you do not study. DO HOMEWORK & READING!If not- will be tough class for you.

Would recommend class. Prof was a nice guy, but teaching methods and subject matter in general very dry. Minimal expectations were set with group project, so there were some of us who weren't sure what our grade would even be based on. Tough exams, but if you're in a decent group and actually put together your one-page of notes you'll do okay.

1st day of class, Brackon said he read prior comments on this site, and knew why so many were taking his class. Mid-term was tough, final was brutal.I take MSA 685 next which is my last class & these were the 2 most challenging tests I've taken in the program. Study the chapters/don't depend on 1 page cheat sheet.

Mr. Brackon knows his subject. However, I took him for the MSA accounting refresher workshop, and my test was lost. CMU had no copy of my test. I had to take the test again. I passed. Not a competent development in my educational process. Quite a hassle.

Comment:
He is an unfair grader. He admitted that he grades subjectively. He marked points off of everyone's summary/opinion papers simply because he disagreed with their opinions. He also gave us very little direction for our stock portfolios, yet expected so much in return. He might be knowledgeable about the subject, but he is not a good teacher.

Comment:
Professor keeps class interesting, considering the subject. There is a reasonable amount of work in MSA635, but it is very easy to stay caught up. This class requires minimal time outside of class. Exams are easy, case studies are easy, no final project presentation to worry about. I recommend this instructor.
