Mary is certainly an unforgettable teacher, mostly because she acts like she is in Dead Poet's Society or some other film where Robin Williams plays a a quirky genius who challenges authority, she is irrational, forgetful, she doesn't bother to learn her students names and honestly never really teaches, I think I possibly unlearned some skills

She's a great person, and you're going to love her quirky personality. She's an incredibly difficult professor though. She will force you to think abstractly and in doing so, she will either confuse you or you will see the world in a whole different light. She simply confused me. A crazy hard grader as well. It was the only class I received a B in.

Comment:

Mary Fredlund is the smartest woman I know. If you can take your head out of your own ass for a change, you can learn so much from her. She is incredibly knowledgable about a plethora of subjects, and is willing to listen and help your work through assignments. I wish I could take her class again.

Mary is a real teacher, and is by far the best. So many kids fail her class because so many kids do not understand how to CRITICALLY THINK, nor how to DECODE someone's intentions (her homework sheets made sense, you just had to use a dictionary and think for a minute). She should have been a graduate professor

Mary is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She knows her stuff, but she has no idea how to teach. With all the other jobs she brags about I'm surprised she ever went into teaching. If you have the option switch out of her class, Elements is a vital class for freshman and every student deserves someone who can do the job right.

Even though she is very confusing and insane when you first meet her, she does know her stuff. Just be really patient with her and you'll learn a lot from her. Do you work and the diary she keeps mentioning. Artist research is vital. The diary is %60 of your grade.

Mary is completely useless.. She grades very unfairly- making up excuses for her reasons. She will give a C or D to someone who shows up every week and an A to someone who comes once or twice, only because she likes that person. Mary was on probation- I had really hoped she would get let off.

I had Mary my freshman year in the fall of 1990. She was one of the best professors I ever had, very hard and challenging. I wish I had more like her but she is a rare gem.

Mary is completely insane. She has absolutely no concept of monetary values or time. The way she thinks is great, but only if your trippin balls more than succeeding in life. She is the absolute worst teacher I have ever had, and has an even worst memory and personality. Perfection, is not an option. Angst is in your future if you have this teacher

Mary is a little crazy. Her assignments are very concept heavy and she expects conceptual explanations of all that you do. Her Line Diary is my biggest problem with her course. She weights it big time, 50% for my class. I am a good student with a good work ethic and this class really stressed me out. My only non-A class. I got a C.

single worst teacher i've had at MICA. i understand the purpose and need for all of her assignments, but what failed to translate was the unrealistic expectations on her end. i am an a student with a strong work ethic, but this class gave me an ulcer, and she's a very unfair grader. plays favorites big time. switch out while you still can
