AMAZING TEACHER. Need someone whose clear and concise on topics? Need help with fixing up your writing technique? Take Winegarden, she is the most introspective English teacher I have ever had. The books she assigns are HEAVY (like emotionally) and pretty deep.. changed my life. IF you wish to learn something worthwhile, definitely take her.

Great teacher, really cares about each student succeeding. Good selection of books I enjoyed each one we read. She can be slightly unorganized at times and comes up with weird group projects, but overall a good class and a good teacher.

Want to pass the JEPET? Take her class.You may feel as though you are being worked to death if you're lazy, but it's really not bad.We did 5 essays, including 1 ungraded and 1 re-write that replaced a previously lower-graded essay.Essays are critical analysis style.We go over grammar.Books are really interesting, as are the lectures/discussions.

Mary is an extremely exceptional teacher, even though she is extremely aggresive on her teaching habits and grading techniques. I EARNED a B+ in her class and worked my a** off...EVEN THOUGH I think I deserved an A she is alright.

Great Professor, sort of condensending when asking questions but if you can handle tough love you should be okay. Very understanding when things come up. Uses the tect religiously so make sur eyou have it one you at all times. Fairl easy class overall.

Great professor. 5 essays, 1 of them is a revision. not too much hw. She grades fair and is approachable. I liked her a lot and the books we read are interesting and her class discussions help a lot with writing so go! i ended up with an A-. pretty chill. i recommend her but dont go expecting not to do work!

She was a wonderful teacher. If you do the work and do the reading you'll be fine. The midterm and final are essays that she gives throughout the semester anyway, so nothing bad. I would highly recommend her. She helped keep my passion for English alive.

As a gneral rule I hate English classes, but with her it was different. I loved her class. She is extremely helpful, explains things extremely well. If you do babdly in this class either, you don't go or you don;t do the assignments. I learned so much from her class. It has made me a better writer in all my other classes.

Tried hard to get out of this class when I saw her intimidating syllabus, but I'm so glad I stuck with her. Best ENG teacher so far at SFSU. Very helpful- go to office hrs. she helps you a lot, and she appreciates extra effort. Only negative is that you can only miss 5 classes max.

She's a great teacher! And yes, going to class is a must! On the other hand only two essays the whole semester and one which you get to revise for a higher grade, and almost no HW! Def recommend this class, just don?t get on her bad side :)

I felt like I was in 2nd grade with her. She will take every opportunity to degrade you by insulting you in front of the class. Too many papers and mandatory attendance with the fact that she is biased and boring but my writing did improve after this class. Il still avoid her.

She does not have much to offer in her class. Her class was very boring and attendance is mandatory. I guess she knows that otherwise no one would go to her class. If you can take this class with other instrutors, avoid Winegarden!
