Comment:

Professor Coles lectures cover everything you need to do well in the class (so no textbook needed). Hes not very good at breaking down the subject in simpler terms, he teaches the material the way it is. Hes bad at responding to emails (before and during covid). Would recommend if you plan on taking quantum physics, but avoid if your an engineer

While he seems to be a nice guy, he is not good at ALL at explaining how to solve problems. He goes very fast & is not good at understanding & responding to student questions. I had him during corona, so this next part may only be b/c it was online, but he gave a total of 3 assignments the entire semester & was an easy grader. I was confused a LOT!

This professor is a huge waste of time and money. I had to teach myself everything despite never missing a single lecture. There are better math professors out there, especially for this course which is supposed to be one of the easier ones. He assigned 3 homeworks and 1 final so there wasn't much work.

Literally the worst teacher I've ever had. Ridiculously difficult and doesn't answer questions. He clearly knows what he's talking about, but I don't think he knows how to teach at all.

H O R R I B L E. I'm a straight A student and amazing at math, but I got a C in this class because Cole is a terrible teacher. He's very smart and you can tell he's a mathematician, but I have no idea why he's a teacher when he has no idea how to teach.

I am a film major and was told this class was easy to take for a math elective. I'll bet it is if the professor actually taught. Cole does not know how to teach by any means. He does not have students participate whatsoever and messes up while doing equations. Be ready to teach yourself everything. Dont take him for this class or you WILL struggle

This is easily the worst professor I've ever encountered since kindergarten. Even though all of the tests are open book, the man doesn't teach. I'm really good at math and I'm expecting a C in this class.

Professor Cole is an awful professor. Cannot teach at all. You have to teach yourself everything from the textbook or you will not pass this class. If you ask questions, he gives extremely unclear answers that just confuse you even more. Assigned a test the week before the final because of poor planning skills. Do not recommend.

Professor Cole knows a lot about math, but is not too skilled when it comes to teaching it in the classroom. He would simply do problems on the board, without very little explanation, and expect the students to understand what he was doing. He also answered questions very vaguely, which was not very helpful at all.

This class became harder than it needed to be. The material does not seem too hard but the way it is explained makes it difficult to understand. Professor Cole generally spends an entire class solving one problem on his own with very little explanation to why things are done. He is very nice & flexible with certain things, however, if need be.

Professor Cole clearly knows a lot about math, but he is not well-suited to teach such a simple course. He does not explain himself while doing problems and answers questions vaguely. Homework is optional, but helpful if you want to do well seeing as the class is mostly a self-teach.

Cole is insufferably disorganized, however, he is incredibly intelligent. Homework is optional, but highly recommended if one wants to do well in the class. Regardless, you will likely pass due to his curve, which is based on attendance. If you have any sliver of mathematical knowledge, you'll pass. I highly recommend using a scientific calculator.

The worst class I've ever had to take at Hofstra. I was confused 24/7, and he wasn't there to explain why. You'll pass no matter what though, because of the curve he gives.

Cole is very intelligent, but is a terrible explainer. Basically just writes problems on the board for himself to solve. Also isn't at all helpful if you ask him a clarifying question. His quizzes are rather challenging, and he does not give the homework to make up for it.

He is not very organized. However, he does know the material very well and is a fine professor. If you are not taking this course as a refresher from when you took it in high school, then this class will be tough. You should be at least somewhat familiar with the subject matter ahead of time. He curves nicely and tells some interesting anecdotes.

Professor Cole is SUPER smart, but he may not be the best teacher. I was confused a lot but he gives you cheat cheats for the tests, and curves them A LOT. The class is difficult overall, and he should be teaching a higher math class. However, he is kind of nice though. I would DEF show up to every class and TAKE NOTES.
