I did not have a good time working with Dr Palumbo. Many other students love him as a professor, I did not. He isn't very nice, and clearly states that if you are 'out of line' in class, even slightly, that he will fail & dismiss you. Almost acts like he is a god with his title.

Comment:

Dr. Palumbo is a very good professor. Not only does he know his stuff, but he makes sure his students understand all the concepts before moving on. Music theory can be tricky, but this fundamentals class from Dr. Palumbo makes the concepts more understandable. He is truly a great asset to the DPA and it's no wonder he's been there for so long.

Dr. Palumbo is possibly one of the best professors I've had. He genuinely concerned about his students and their success. He's very strict and has a slight temper but he is wonderful nonetheless.

This professor may know his stuff but he's not fun to work with. Very hot tempered, unclear on many things, doesnt work well with students missing class for ANY reason. This class was easy enough but dont plan on ever missing a class because he wont let you live it down.

Excellent teacher who truly loves music and has some actual talent in it! Can sometimes have a temper, as do most hardcore musicians, but overall an excellent teacher.

I took a class from him about a year ago and he was seriously one of the best teachers I have ever had. It was a music theory class and he made sure class understood the concepts as a whole before he would move on. He described things well and I thoroughly enjoyed his class and that he was a wonderful person.

Comment:

It was like a breath of fresh air when I stopped playing with the Wind Ensemble and only played in Palumbo's orchestra. Not only is he completely professional, he is one of the only music teachers in the department to actually treat students consistently with respect. He is fair and deserving of respect. The other "teachers" don't deserve it.

Demands top level performance and behavior of his students, and gets it because he is a good professor. Knows his material, and has great teaching methods. He is a great violist, and is very passionate about music. He has great dedication to his students.
