Would definitely take Professor Colwell again. There was opportunity for extra credit on one of our harder exams which helped a ton. Your grade is based on daily quizzes and 4 exams. Make sure to study her study guides and quizzes and the exams will be fine. Don't miss class and take advantage of her office hours/tutoring center hours.

Nancy is a sweet lady but she is not a good teacher. She often makes mistakes and doesn't even correct it. She does grade tests fairly, but get ready to use the math center a ton. a quiz and homework assignment due weekly.

Very sweet professor. If you pay attention in class and get help when you need it you'll be fine. She gives daily quizzes, but if you do your homework they aren't hard at all. I recommend this professor, she is always there to help and to make sure you understand the material!

She is the sweetest lady, and is pretty easy to understand. There is an assignment due every class period, and optional practice problems in addition to those. It was somewhat difficult to be able to do all of the practice problems in addition to the assignments, and the class did get a little confusing, but if you pay attention it's not too bad.

Not a bad class. She was a bit confusing at times but overall she was totally fine. She has 4 tests (last one is cumulative) and daily quizzes which have options for extra credit. Suggested homework but it is very helpful (you can look at it during the quizzes).

Very nice lady! You will have 4 test, last one is cumulative. She gives daily quizzes however you also get a lot of chances for extra credit on the quizzes. She has notes that you can follow along with. Suggested homework, it does help!! She does make a lot of mistakes when doing problems so its hard to follow sometimes, but its math!

Best math professor at SVSU! Very clear standards and gives students a fair chance to pass the class. Would definitely take another one of her classes!

Great Professor by far, and one of the best in the department. Has notes you can print off and take to class to follow along. If you take good notes and do the homework everything is easy. Weekly quizzes, with two exams and a final. The quizzes are just like the homework, exams are like the quizzes, nothing too difficult.

Took her for Math 161 and passed with an A. Open-note quizzes everyday, great for studying from, tests are very similar to quizzes. She made mistakes while she was teaching and was hard to follow sometimes, but who actually learns math from being "taught"? Do the homework and you'll do great.

Nancy is one of the best math professors at SVSU! Quizzes every day, but if you do the homework they're easy. She offers some extra credit to boost your quiz grade. Tests aren't bad if you do the homework and study, and she offers partial credit on problems if you do the process right but mess up on something small. Would definitely take her again

Quizzes every day but it's a easy class. The only problem I had with is sometimes she would get quite while explaining a problem. The test questions are easy enough if you know the concepts. I barly used the calculator in this class.

Great professor. Quizzes every day but she gives more quizzes and extra credit than needed in case you miss a few days of class or do bad on a few. Material is easy and as long as you do the recommended problems, tests shouldn't be a problem. Does make small mistakes but to be honest nothing to worry about. She cares about her students.

DO NOT TAKE HER!!! She makes mistakes while lecturing, and even though we catch them, she DOESN'T tell you how to correct them! She talks to herself, and even when you ask specifically to clarify on something, she just confuses you more! p.s. Don't bother buying the book.

Do not take this teacher if you struggle at math. She only bases your final grade on test scores and she gets confused all the time and talks to herself. She says you will pass the class if you work hard and ask for help...well I did both and didn't pass the class. Do not take her.

Nancy is a nice lady and she does her very best to help students. Her notes are helpful... you download them from VSpace and fill them out in class. Starting halfway through the semester she started letting us use a cheat sheet for all quizzes and exams. You have a quiz everyday, 3 exams through out the semester, and one cumulative final.

She's a straight-to-the-facts person. Not much class interaction at all... quite boring and hard to pay attention. It's really nice how she makes note outlines for each day.. very helpful. At the end of each class there is a small quiz about previous material. Some extra credit opportunities. She's very timid, but very nice

Professor Colwell is really nice but she is very air-heady. She makes a lot of mistakes in her math which makes things confusing. I love math but this class did have me a little confused, and I know a few other students were very frustrated. Going to class won't help you learn it, it just gives you points. She runs the Math Resource Center tho.

She is very helpful and grades pretty easy. The only downside is she sometimes has trouble explaining things and tends to talk very quiet. Still, very good professor.
