I loved her class because I'm really interested about languages. She's a foreigner with a Ph D. in English so she expects a lot from native speakers. She is somewhat strict but, it's a good thing. Do your work and participate. She's understanding yet a semi-tough grader. She's Russia btw...

She is a wonderful teacher and care a lot the achievement of all her students. As long you do you work, you will pass this class with no problem. I could have done a better job in this class but of course working and going to school full time is already hard, to add on with family but she was fair and she gave me a passing grade.

I recently took English-16, Introduction to Language, and I really enjoyed it. In this class, I learned about the origin words, how words are used and how words are developed.Learning about language also led to a lot of good conversations, some serious, but most of them fun. Dr. Dumer is a very good teacher and I would highly recommend her class.

I took Professor Dumer recently for Eng-16 and she was a great teacher. It was the first time she taught the class but I think she did very well. I learned a lot, she is serious but she also throws in her little jokes sometimes and her assignments are easy. If you dedicate some time it will be easy to pass. She will help you if you ask.

This is a course that everyone should be required to take. Language is such a fundamental part of our lives that is so often taken for granted. Having a deeper understanding of language and the interactions involved is really helpful. Olga Dumer did a great job instructing this hybrid course. I highly recommend it!
