Awful prof, we got nothing done in our class and it wasted my time and money. He preferred to talk about his own personal stories and passions and not about actually teaching us anything.

His lectures are very boring and one-sided based off of his personal views. You have to type a 1-2 page paper for almost all classes. There are 3 books you must read and he gives quizzes based off of these books which the questions have no relevance to the book and grades answers based off of his views. Group project is the biggest grade.

Professor Jones was one of the most horrible professors I had in my first semester of college. He always assigned random papers two days before the next class and expects way too much out of a 100 level class. He has his own specific views and will not like anything other than his views. Not respectful or understand at all.

Comment:
Jones is closed minded and grades based on his own views only. I swear he gave me a bad grade on a paper just because he didn't agree with it. I honestly hated this class and if you are a conservative or have more right-sided views, he will dislike you and your opinions. Your grade is based off of this and that's the worst thing a prof can do.

I could think of multiple activities that would be better uses of time than sitting through one of his lectures of leftist viewpoints. 30% of your grade has to do with class discussion, so if you bring a differing view to the classroom, you'd be a fool to think you're going to get full credit for offering a differing viewpoint.

His "Brief" assignments/ readings were very lengthy. Very lecture heavy, his lectures would go for the entire class for the most part. Kind of a tough grader. Passionate about what he does. A lot of work for an intro-level class.

Professor Jones has no respect for others but demands respect in return. He has one opinion and if you do not agree with that then he won't accept your answers. If you voice your opinion in his class he will use that towards your papers. "Brief" assignments is not in his vocabulary. They are very long!

Jones is a nightmare. His "brief" assignments take anywhere from 4 to 7 hours to complete. I held a 3.97 GPA and and barely holding a C- with him. You'll have to read 5 very heavy badly written books and be tested on all of them. Also he only gives you 10 to 15 minutes to do 10 full essay answers. I'm liberal and even I think he's SJW nuts.

Attendance is not mandatory, but participation is. There is no textbook for the class. Prof. Jones is really understanding IF you can get ahold of him. If you go to his office hours he is really cool to talk to and will help you tremendously. Emailing him is not near as effective. His "brief" assignments typically take about an hour and a half.

Needs to re-evaluate the definition of "brief." Average about 6 long articles or video that you must read before class and usually a "brief" assignment goes with it (it's NOT brief). A lot of work for a 100 level 3 credit class. Passionate about what he does and interesting topics; just a lot of busy work that is last minute (not clear in syllabus)

Professor Jones is by far the most passionate and comprehensive teacher I've ever had. There is a lot of reading and small assignments but you learn an incredible amount and he made the content engaging. Very caring and willing to help students. Demands respect but will respect you if it is given. Very hospitable teacher, however he is tough

America in the 60's is a class that always fills up, but beware. I learned a lot in this class but I doubt I will pass(gpa:3.6). Patrick loves to send a surprise email at 10:30pm the night before to give a "light" assignment. NEVER LIGHT. Way too many books to read and way too many surprises. Also a lot of participation required.

Knowledgeable & enthusiastic when it comes to race issues. I'm pretty eye to eye with Prof. Jones when it comes to politics so no issue there. His theory on the amount of work required for an undergrad course is insane. Secret papers due the following day, 50 EXTRA pages of reading, etc. His "discussions" are mostly him talking. At own your risk

Best professor I have ever had. He respects all students. Class discussions are lively and engaging. Prof. Jones cares a lot about what he teaches as well as his students in class. If you want to get a lot out of a class, I would highly recommend Prof. Jones. He expects a lot from students, yet the learning is rewarding and life-changing.

For anyone who says Patrick is an awful professor or that students should avoid him like "the plague", should reevaluate what they want out of their education. Sure, he teaches vigorously, but it is very rewarding. I have taken two courses with Prof. Jones and they have both positively impacted my life forever.

I would advise against taking classes with Professor Jones. He is very closed minded and if you do not go along with his very liberal views, you will be an outcast in his class. Reading level was excessive for a 100 level seminar and was often difficult to understand and he did nothing to clarify it class. Tended to single out students in class.

Nice enough guy if you go along with his feel-good liberalism, but don't disagree at any point or you'll pay. He is very feminine, which makes him easy to approach. Liked the course except I felt he was a bit childish and ideological. He loves making all people of color victims, and I am one and found it too much.
