Dr. Lipton definitely knows what he is talking about. He appears to care about you and your grade but he does not. Helpful if you go to his office hours, but the exams are really challenging.

Dr. Lipton's lectures will draw you in and make you want to major in neuroscience. He's an amazing professor that is very passionate and cares about all of his students. Office hours are very helpful. If you listen during lectures you won't even have to review much for exams. Favorite class and professor so far. I'd take any class he teaches.

He is knowledgable but very messy. Textbook was the most investment ever and he did not design his slides helpfully. I found myself fishing for material before exams. Most disorganized professor I have ever met.

He is an incredible professor!! He gives amazing lectures, but you need to come to each and every class if you want to do well. He's also always available after class at office hours, so that's super helpful for reviewing material or understanding concepts. He is a really caring person, and wants you to do well.

Wonderful professor. He is passionate about his studies, and shows it in lectures. He makes jokes to break the tons of information per lecture, which is awesome. He is a genuinely kind professor who cares about each student. I would take any and all of his classes if I had the room in my schedule! Only gripe: wish I had gone to more office hours!

Literally the best professor/lecturer you will ever have. He cares so much about your success, makes tests easy to study for, and lectures are interesting and amusing while still packed with content. Take NE101 if at all possible. Paul is the best.

Amazing and hilarious lecturer, which is helpful considering the tests are all lecture based. You don't need the textbook, although it can help clear up some small details. Office hours are important for clarification on certain topics, since lectures go fast and you learn a lot of information in just one class.

Without a doubt the best professor I've had at BU. Dr. Lipton is very smart and very intense. His passion for neuroscience inspires you to fall in love with it too. Lectures are tough but if you stay on top of the reading you'll be fine, especially because discussions reinforce everything from class.

Dr. Lipton is absolutely hilarious and easily one of the best professors that I have had this semester at BU, he is very helpful and always so kind to all of his students. His tests are lecture based so you can't skip and you won't want to. He's the best and made me appreciate neuroscience a lot more

Lipton is best when you go to his office hours. He doesn't get his real point across in lecture- he wants you to take what he lectures and be able to apply it. These connections aren't always clear from lecture, but in office hours everything starts to make sense. No assigned textbook readings. Really funny, nice guy.

Really nice guy who genuinely cares about his students. Very knowledgeable. Lectures can get boring at times, though he does often crack jokes. Textbook is more in-depth but offers more clarity than his lectures. Definitely go to office hours. Online exam format takes getting used to, and some questions are tricky. Study with your exam group.

Absolutely loved this class. Made me fall in love with my major. Would recommend 100% and would absolutely take this class again. Professor Lipton is also the head of the neuroscience department and so amazingly nice, so make a point to get to know him if you want his help later in your career.

Paul Lipton is amazing! His lectures are clear, and since neuroscience is a subject most students don't have any background knowledge of, he knows exactly how fastslow to go through the concepts. He answers every single question as thoroughly as possible, and throws out unfairtoo difficult questions on exams.

He was one of the best professors I've ever had. All of the test material comes from his lectures, so the book isn't necessary. Very good lecturer and cares that his students are actually learning.

Lipton's hilarious and very easily accessible. He's passionate about what he teaches, and makes sure that if anyone has a question that it's answered & they have a clear understanding before he moves on. The material itself is not hard either as long as you keep up with the reading. The guest lectures are what may bring your test grades down a bit.
