I took a number of classes with him when I was still at USF, and I enjoyed him for his style of teaching. Straight and to the point. I'm saddened by hearing the news that he's passed away, as seemed very kind and was a very knowledgable man.

This is the 3rd class I have taken him for. SUPER easy. What your grade will be is what you make on the 2 in-class essays. Attendance is "mandatory"...but he forgets to take role alot. Dry humor, but try to forgive him for that! :)

I love this Professor. Very dry British humor, but smart in his analysis of text. I rarely went to his class and recieved an A. He does not count quizzes unless you are on the cusp between grades. Write a good essay for both exams and you will pass with an A. Very, very nice man.

Had a class with him 2-3 years back. I concur with most of the comments. Only real problem? He's impossible to get hold of, and he doesn't use Blackboard, so you can't replace any documents you lose, not even the syllabus. Missed the final - had the runs and thought it was during finals week, not in-class, & couldn't get hold of him to make it up.

Had no interest in Course but had to take it and strangely learned some stuff. Class is strictly lecture w/ quizzes that everyone fails. Be sure to know some stuff for mid-term and final (essay form)if you can come up w/ an analysis of something you'll be fine. Rarely went to class and still got a good grade. Nice guy w/ a dry humor but cool

Dr. Morris is a traditional professor and it is very refreshing. He is a gentleman and deeply knowledgable about what he teaches. Take the time to talk to him outside of the classroom and you will find him to be an extremely interesting man.

You don't always have to show up to class, depending. He always forgot to take role. I didn't miss any classes, anyway. He's a fantastic teacher, a little monotone. I'd be tempted to record his voice and listen to it before going to bed (easy way to get to sleep!)

Easy, easy class. I went maybe 10 classes all semester and got an A. Don't bother buying the book, everything can be found on the internet/library. 3 quizzes, 2 exams but the quizzes are only considered if you're on the cusp between a grade(A/B). Really smart guy

Dr. Morris is incredibly smart and experienced (he was a student assistant to Robert Frost). I never had a problem staying awake in class. He's got a dry sense of humor, subtle, but there. I suggest taking a lot of notes, the only grades were open book/note in class essays. I would definitely suggest Dr. Morris to anyone who is into American Lit.

Definitely one of the easiest classes I've ever had- but be warned, the man is a cure for insomnia. Had him for pre-1860 lit, and he was very knowledgeable. (Likely was there- man is old as dirt) Bring a jacket, he keeps the room cold- and a laptop- solitare helps pass the time : D

I liked Mr. Morris's class. He's traditional, and likes to lecture rather than discuss. Which is a bit hard to swallow at an 8am class. But all I have to say is I hope he burried all thos jerk kids that left in the middle or arrived near the end...and expected to get credit : idiots.

I think more professors should be like Dr. Morris. He lectures the whole time w/o discussion. I don't pay $ to listen to student's stupid opinions. I really enjoyed the readings and listening to him explain everything. I think attendance does count though. At the end if you are borderline between two grades, I believe he would look at attendance.

His classes are so informative; he's extremely knowledgeable and the exams are open book. If you don't nod off at least once, though, I'll kiss your behind in Macy's window at noon. It's just a fact. All around great teacher. Don't miss it!

I think I only went to about 1/4 of the classes, but it was really unavoidable. Still got an A. There's two open book exams, and you should be able to select at least one topic to write on, on the exams. I think you should go to class, but if you can't the attendance policy isn't really used. If you ace both exams he's not going to fail you.

Dr. Morris is great. His classes *are* quite easy, and most people earn an A: he only requires two open book (open notes) essay exams, and you can pick from a HUGE range of topics. He is quite old, and can ramble a bit, but his knowledge of Renaissance literature is amazing and deep. The major downside is that he does not encourage discussion.

veerrrrrrrry boring class, but its an easy A. i think i went to classs like 8 times this entire semester and got an A. There really is no attendance policy, and he gives everyone a great grade on the two open book papers. if you like to sleep in class or dont enjoy coming to classes but like getting good grades take him!

Professor Morris, although extremly educated within his field, can be very dull and rather boring during lectures. His classes are very easy to pass, as long as you go most of the time and write at least two pages on the exams. He offers little time for discussion and, in my opinion, doesn't stimulate thinking. Take him if you want an easy A.

Dr. Morris is terrific! This class was completely devoted to studying John Donne, and Dr. Morris' knowledge of Donne is impressive. You will learn quite a bit, and the emphasis is not really on the grade but on learning the material. He assigned only two papers, and most people got A's.

He is a wonderful teacher. He knows what he is talking about and is always interested to hear what others think. There are also only 2 open book, open note essays w/ no specific lengths required. You will learn a lot in his classes.
