Comment:

There's only 5 assignments. You'll get by if you don't read the textbook chapters but pay close attention in class. We used the book's practice problems but Dr. Müller has a way that he wants you to diagram sentences that is different from the book. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand. He thinks that questions "make the class".

Comment:

I love Muller but I would be lying if I didn't say he was hard. We had four grades in the class and he frequently said he just wants us to assess our growth. As a scholarship student, his class really threw a curve in my grades. He is still one of the best professor's I have ever had and I would recommend him but be prepared.

The most caring and intelligent professor I have ever had! Also the most unorganized. Can't respond to an email to save his life, can't work blackboard, and don't expect any grades back until the week before finals. I have had him for multiple classes and he is passionate about every single one!

Comment:

Muller is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. He can be demanding, but he also knows how to bring out your potential. He knows how to believe in you when you don't know how to believe in yourself. He's incredibly sweet, and no matter how busy he is, he's always willing to take time to talk to you whether it has to do with class or not.

I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this class and I really wanted to like Dr. Muller. I have never failed a class in my life, and this might be my first. His test are impossible and he asks questions about things he's never taught and is rude when the student is confused (all of us are). I hate that this class is a requirement. Avoid at all costs.

Comment:

Etymology with Muller is HARD, but through this class, he sparked my interest in linguistics. He pushes students and makes them work, and you will have to really thoroughly understand concepts. But he is passionate, compassionate, and helpful, and I have enjoyed every class I have taken with him. He is brilliant!

Very tough class!!! Dr. Muller understands that the course is hard and therefore gives you pass/fail projects to boost your grade. HARD, HARD, HARD......you can't simply memorize the work you have to really understand the material to pass

Dr. Muller is the man. He's a genius and in class discussions he almost always connects the reading to much deeper and broader themes of life and literature. It's very profound and it really makes you think. I have put quotes of his as my Facebook status at least a few times. He loves the Lord and cares about his students, too. And he has a beard.

Dr. Muller is a great prof. He knows the material and presents it in such a way that the students must think for themselves. It wasn't a difficult class for me; I had a solid background in grammar. If you went to public school in the US you will probably have some difficulties, but you will learn a lot. He is a very wise man. I highly recommend.

Excellent professor; extremely intellegent; can come off as arrogant at first. Most amazing fact: the man is dyslexic and teaching courses in Modern Grammar and Linguistics! Believes that the student should claim his or her own education, so be prepared to do some work in his courses! Work put into the course will benefit you later in your career.

Dr. Muller is a great professor! His tests are kind of hard, so you need to pay attention, but I learned so much! I was not really interested AT ALL in taking this class when I signed up (it was required, since I am an English major) but he made it so interesting! And he's so cute. I wish he was my grandpa ;)
