Comment:
I really did not like this class. I really tried to be optimistic and work hard in the class but Dr. Conrad's class is really disheartening. He gives exams on research papers he never explains with terminology far beyond BIO 101. I never really understood what exactly what was going on, just vague ideas. Don't do this to yourself, not worth it.

Great prof! Had 1st semester fresh yr & it was a difficult (yet very rewarding) class. Has a teaching style where evrythng is conceptual-you don't have to memorize anything, but need to undrstnd how each process operatesworks. Very helpful, wants student to learn things for life. Make sure you take notes & read bc he only talks during lectures.

He is not clear, does not help. His class is the worst so far, try to avoid him specially in your first year.

Focuses on the smaller details, which means you must know everything in order to get a good grade. The test averages are extremely low, but are curved. Although they're open book, you can't just go in and expect to get the answers from the book- they're all application based questions.

The class is hard, you really need to listen and pay attention and read on your own time. Tests are open notes, but HARD! He curves everything at the end. If you need help with anything he is always more than willing to help and explain anything till you understand.

Hard material to understand without prior knowledge. Go to office hours and get a tutor for better understanding. You really have to study more for this because he assumes you know what he does.

Hardest 101 class I have ever taken. Although it requires a ton of work (along with the lab) it is worth it. I worked my tail off to get an A. The lab and class together are quite the load but you learn how to learn. Go to class take notes and youll be set. TAKE NOTES AND KEEP TRACK OF ASSIGNMENTS!!!

The best teacher I have ever had in my life. I worked my tail off but i learned more from this course than any other class i have ever taken in my life. Peter and his wife Janice are great biology professors because they teach you to actually think like a biologist. Instead of mindlessly memorizing definitions, you learn concepts and apply them. A+

He is a good professor and so is his wife but they take their job very seriously. If you do not come to class regularly and take accurate notes, you WILL be confused. He has a different teaching style and if your taking him as a first semester freshmnan you might not be prepared!

If you go to class, chances are you're pretty lost from the start. Completely different teaching style, but the moment you are confused on anything he says (which he says a lot-& fast) ASK! (him or Janice) They're really helpful! He really does give you the answers(if you pay attn) & a LOT of comprehension depends on DOING the readings.

its all very simple...if u tape or write down each and everything he says, then you will get an A in all your exams because he actually gives the answers in class and people never realize...haha...but its true...try it for the semester, answer his exams and you'll see what i mean because all exams are open book yet people fail as books have nothing

he is so wonderful! He's so helpful, and he asks the greatest questions! Even if they are difficult to answer, its challenging. I don't know about everyone else, but I came to college to be challenged, not to be a trash can filled with facts. Finally, someone who is willing to let students stretch and learn and push past their personal limits.
