Comment:

Real laid back guy, flexible on extending deadlines if the whole class agrees on it. Very helpful and genuinely interested in helping you succeed. Assigns time consuming but fun projects.

Hale's a good teacher, and he goes through the basics of Illustrator and Photoshop pretty thoroughly. His projects aren't hard, but you just have to show that you're at least 'doing' something. He's always willing to help you, and once in awhile he'll bring in food. You can't really beat that.

An upstanding example of what a graphic design instructor should be. Nobody is more positive, personable, and helpful than he. He belongs at an Ivy league-level school.

It is true that Hale loves his work. However, it is also true that he doesn't clarify what he wants from you. He pretty much assigns you work and expects you to know what you are doing only to teach you what you DO need to know when it is too late. His grading is pretty harsh. If you're not a good artist or creative, AVOID him.

While Hale has a solid idea of design should be, he has no idea how to communicate this to his students. His philosophy on his assignments is figure it out youself then hope I like your design. If not thats to bad and here is your low grade. After handing you a grade he then goes on about how no one puts enough effort into their work.

Ok, I'm getting sick of my ACCURATE ratings going under review when I'm trying to help prevent people from having to face this guy! This is the honest truth...Hale has the teachign ability of an ameoba. He does not clarify, grades harshly, and does not teach you how to use the programs until after you've turned in your project. AVOID this class!

I'm not sure why everyone thinks he is easy. He does not teach you HOW to use the programs at all yet hands out full length design projects due the next class when you have no idea how to use the program! He doesn't clarify what he wants and hands out bad grades even when you put so much effort into it. He expects you to already know all right away

I have NO idea what everyone is talking about. This guy is ONLY easy if you're already a professional designer already. He doesn't realize this is a beginning level class and has no clarity. Everything is supposedly in the book or what you feel and he judges your work harshly. How can you judge someone else's art? He gives harsh grades. I got a D.

He is such a wonderful guy. Takes the time to know every one. Very easy going, just come to class and do the assignments and it's be an easy A/B. Assignments are pretty easy. Easy take home quizes and midterm!! brought us homemade pizza once! yum!!

Mr. Hale is by far one of the best teachers in the school of architecture!!!! i learned so much in this class and would recommend him as a teacher, any day! He is SO helpful and really wants you to succeed!!! : )

He is a great teacher! He is my favorite teacher in the Architecture Building. This class was really easy and he gives you enough time to finish and projects and he is always willing to help. He is such a great guy and so nice. VERY recommended to take his class.

Hale is great. his assignments are fun, workload may be plenty for some people but he gives you a good amount of time to do them.expect him to critisize your work in front of the class but he tries to be nice about it.overall this is a good class and he does try to help you understand the program

incredibly nice guy, but technology/software seems to be outrunning him. a lot of us know more about the software in the computer labs than he does. not too good for his credibility as a teacher.
