I'm not sure what the people below me are smoking, but Dr. O'Malley is a character.Go to class for the attendance points, and do the online homework. She is rude, and her final is ridiculous. She gave no indication of what it would be on, we all failed. Strong British accent, and gets her slides from the book...word for word. Tests are difficult.

Dr. O'Malley is a very sweet woman, but teaching is not her calling. She reads straight out of the book and does the examples that the book does, which is not helpful. Attendance is not mandatory, but she gives pop quizzes for points, so go to class. I got D's and F's on every test and still got a B-. Do the online hw and go to the Friday sessions!

Make sure you read and take notes out of the textbook. O'Malley definitely is not the best teacher for this course. Flies through powerpoints, claiming nearly everything in the class is intuitive, and often goes over problems wrong. She does not offer a lot of information relevant to the exams.

key to getting an A, 1)go to class for attendance points 2)study very hard before exams 3)do the homework for points 4)do as many practice problems as possible, o'malleys class is doable, you just have to study, she'll work with you if you need some extra points, I liked her a lot shes cool and pretty funny, if I made an A, anyone can

I hate chem but omalley was great, this class needs studying though like any chem class. Exams were NOT tricky, my book was the old edition and it was perfect..lowest exam grade is dropped, final isnt and she curves it so its great..this teachers hillarious, if youre expecting an easy A, dont take this class..or any chem class for that matter

O'Malley was awesome! I hate chem but shes super funny and really works with you, she answers emails within minutes, seriously. Her exams are straightforward but this class requires studying...all chem classes do if you dont want to study dont take this class, I'm not good at chem but the study guide was a HUGE HELP! also she curves the final!

O'Malley is one of the most frustrating teachers I've ever had. She fails at obvious problems in front of the class, resulting in FRESHMEN correcting her. I needed the class to get into my College (Mech. Eng) and after failing test after test, I ended up having to teach myself. You don't want her. Try and get Dr. Caswell from what I've heard.

Thinks shes tough or something, is rude and disrespectful to students. Shes lazy, problems on tests such as labeling two answers as (A)...EVERY test. Thinks everything is "intuitive". You teach yourself basically.

Does not "teach" material only reads the powerpoint that is made from the book. There was always errors on the test and most of the problems were not easily understandable.

She basically just reads off the powerpoints and doesn't exactly explain the exact steps to some problems. The powerpoints aren't even hers. I feel like she kinda expects you to know it just because she has just said it. I never would've taken this class if I would've known it would be this difficult.

Somebody hit me with a ton of bricks. Unless you have a good chemistry background, avoid at all costs. Thankfully I took AP Chem so the class isn't that difficult for me, but for anyone else not very solid in chemistry, it's hard. She reads to you like story time from the powerpoints. VERY unclear...i swear she speaks/write in arabic. Horrible!

She doesn't teach at all, just simply reads the book to you. It's a waste of time and you will have to reread the book afterwards to teach your self how to do the problems.

Regardless of who the teacher is, for General Chemistry, teach yourself directly out of the book. You will end up ahead of the class and have time to spare. Do all of the Mastering Chemistry problems (don't bother with book problems) and you should be able to ace the course. Truly the course is a joke (20/24 on tests = A+, 85% overall = A-)

She might be a genius in chemistry, but you'd never guess that she was. She reads completely out of the book, skipping over problems that seemed to laborious for her. If you asked a question on a specific concept, she would never answer the question, her only response, "look it up on your own time."

She is by far my favorite chem teacher. Although she teaches straight from the book I learned a lot. I am really bad at chem and she was always helpful when I had a question after class. I didnt buy a book and ended up with a B-. She doesn't use clickers but does attendance by scantron and even though i missed a few classes i got full participation

Prof O' Malley is a very sweet woman. There is a very large female-to-male ratio in the classroom, which makes the dynamic a little "catty". Some students may not get along with her, but if you pay attention and do your work a "B" is more than possible.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY. She LITERALLY reads from the book every class. This you could do at home and learn more. If you have NO CHOICE but to take her class then bring other work to entertain yourself. She doesn't know what she is doing. She NEVER works out the problem in class.

2 exams (20% each) based on questions that the students create.Q's on Discussion Board. She copy pastes the questions and only fixes spelling and grammar mistakes.Attendance(5%) is mandatory and participation (5%) is expected. The 6,000 word paper(app. 20 pages and is 40% of FINAL GRADE) is the hard work of the course.10 min. ppt.(10%) presentation.
