Comment:
Horrible teacher! Least favorite of BIS courses. He doesn't help you with the coding assignments like in BA 272. He just expects you to know it. I went for office hours and he made me feel stupid. His tests/quizzes are ridiculous. You have to know the smallest details which will mean nothing when you graduate. He needs to learn to teach.

Reitsma is very unorganized. His notes are a jumbled mess of vocab and phrases that really don't make much sense. His style of notes makes it extremely difficult to study for the final. He's great during lecture but the class as a whole is a mess. Every assignment he nitpicks and will give you a 0 if it isn't up to his "Standards"

Reitsma is by far the worst professor I've had at OSU. He doesn't like to use powerpoint or canvas so instead he creates a website where his notes are found. His notes do not highlight the important topics and it's almost impossible to know what to study for the class. He only cares about making things easier for himself and harder on his students.

It's clear that Reitsma not only wants his students to pass his class but grow as individuals. Labs are not required but provide a good basis for any subject you are interested in. His passion for technology and knowledge is inspiring and I highly recommend you do your best to get the most out of his classes.

This is the best teacher you will ever meet in Business Information Systems Major. He also very dedicate to the class that he teach. There is a big project when you are taking 371 and 372, and he is willing to help and understanding. Coding assignment is so-so; you have to put your effort into it.

Class involves coding, a group project, and a midterm exam. The coding is fairly time consuming, but if you do the work and make sure it meets the grading rubric, you can earn easy points. The group project is pretty easy if you have a decent group, but the midterm is very difficult. No final exam.

Professor Reitsma is the type of professor that you would like to meet again and again. He is very helpful and thoughtful. Projects are not easy, but definitely go to his office hours to ask for help. You will get as much help as you need. All he cares about is your learning curve. You can easily get an A- if you put enough effort into it.

Without a doubt the best professor I've had in the BABIS sequence at OSU. The 371 series is project-oriented, but Dr. Reitsma made it vastly interesting and exciting. The coding assignments are incredibly useful, and his lectures are thought-provoking and organized. Always provides superb and relevant feedback. This man is irreplaceable.

Programs are fairly easy, will help you a lot if you ask. Midterm was difficult, especially because his "notes" are more like bullet points that are very hard to make sense of if you missed a class. One of the least organized teachers I've had when it comes to the actual lectures. Get in a good group and the class will be enjoyable.

Great class, Reistma keeps the classes entertaining and engages the audience. He will learn your name and will go out of his way to help you. The HW is pass/fail and is very straight forward. If you go to class he will make it worth your time.

Class is no longer open notes, however if you study the material then you know the material and it's not that hard of a class. Reitsma makes the class good as long as you aren't a **** to him. He's by far one of the cooler professors I've had at O State.

Don't take this class if you hate participation - everyone has name tags that he will use to call on you throughout the class. He does love the subject and is very helpful. Only 3 homework assignments that weren't too bad. Doesn't take attendance and no quizzes, only a midterm and a final. Both open book and open note - but they were difficult!

I was dreading this class, but Dr. Reitsma makes this boring subject a lot easier to handle. I enjoy when he teaches, because he gets so excited about everything...you can tell this man enjoys life. DO NOT BE LATE. Course is team taught with Shaw, the downside is that Shaw is VERY boring. The homework is easy and the mid-term was open-book.

A scholar and a gentleman. If you keep up with the course material and get an early start on the term project, chances are, you'll remember why you enrolled in MIS in the first place.
