Kluender is a really interesting professor in UCSD. Although there're tons of reading waiting for you, they really help in expanding your horizons and constructing a basic idea of how things worked in the field. If you aren't that into it, there're always review sessions where he pushes everyone to discuss the material which definitely benefit you

This was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken, but also my favorite. Go to lecture, he breaks down the studies so you actually understand the data (and he's hilarious). You're gonna have to work hard (lots of studies to read & summaries/papers). But you also learn a lot. Plus he cares; he came to review sessions himself and brought snacks.

One of the best linguistics professors at UCSD! Is extremely educated in the topic and makes difficult classes entertaining. The content of the course is fairly difficult and frustrating but if you attend office hours Professor Kluender is extremely helpful and does his best to make things clear.

This professor is clearly a dedicated, interested professor who cares about the subject matter. However, he is difficult to access outside of class (his email response is infrequent) and he submits grades late. Overall, excellent professor, but you may find yourself quite frustrated.

One of the BEST profs EVER! Extremely helpful, and makes this subject so interesting!!! I hope he keeps teaching; high energy and dedicated to his students. It's a hard class, but it's the most rewarding one I have ever taken in my linguistics major career. Watch his hand gestures, it's interesting lol

Be aware that the topics covered in class are something very foreign to non linguistic majors. Kluender is a nice guy guy, decent lecturer. Exams are HARD, and get very specific, displaying whether you know the material or not. He does curve so it doesn't kill your overall grade. He does care about his students though and is very accessible.

even though he expects you to know a bit too much already about cognitive sciences he is a really good teacher, I learnt a lot in his class. he is funny and hates cell phones. on of the best professors so far.

really hard subject, he assumes you know a lot about cog sci. he rushes his lectures and then tests hard on them. he is not consistent between what he says and what he expects.

Professor Kleunder is awesome! He makes all the material very interesting and adds his own humor to it! The exams were fair but require you know the material very well. Unfortunately sometimes he rushes through slides and makes it difficult to catch up and know whats important. He also assumes the class knows a lot about ling. Overall take him!

Professor Kleunder is awesome! The material is extremely interesting, & even if you dont find it interesting Kleunder makes sure to keep everyone awake by cracking jokes. Unfortunately sometimes he goes through slides way too quickly and assumes the class knows a lot about lign. Aside from that the class is moderately challenging, i recommend him!

Seems like a better professor than most, but speaks and goes through the slides really quickly, so it's a bit hard to take notes by hand. Like the other person said, he kinda assumes that the class already knows a lot so sometimes it's hard to keep up if you're taking it as a GE. Personally I didn't find the TAs all that helpful.

Professor is very engaging. He makes a boring subject interesting. He seems like a really nice person. He presents the material in a way that is easy to remember. Midterms and finals are multiple choice and short answer. He uses examples form the readings on the test.

He is really nice and funny. He seems like he really wants his students to do well so he sets up review sessions for tests. However, he speaks really quickly and moves through slides very quickly. He also assumes that everyone taking the class already knows a lot, which was not the case for me (I took it for a GE)

Hands down, one of the best professors on campus. He knows what he's talking about but more importantly, knows how to help us decipher all the raw data that scientists are digging up and reaching conclusions about what everything means and entails. Easy class if you attend lecture and show an interest to learn.

Granted, readings were mostly journal articles, but given the fact that we're studying "Language and the Brain," it's unreasonable to expect a textbook with easy, well defined terms to memorize for exams. The class is challenging but you can't help and learn what he presents and he guides you through the harder stuff. Awesome prof!

This is a cognitive science class disguised as a linguistics class. 98% of the students were cog sci majors and the TAs were also cog sci. The readings are academic articles from medical schools with so much jargon that it is incomprehensible. He claims that he grades easy, i got points off my midterm for using left-brain instead of left hemisphere

Dr. Kluender is a funny man and so enthusiastic about what he teaches. He has guest lectured in my other linguistics classes as well and well, he is the master of ridiculously long powerpoints haha (>200 slides sometimes), which means he talks extra fast. Nonetheless, he is a good professor and cares enough to entertain us with his monkey call
