Such a nice guy!! Does lots of different activities to make it easy to participate (i.e. debates, group work, answering around the circle.) He also does weekly check-ins where you can tell him what is going on in your life if you are stressed about anything.

Bob is super supportive, genuinely cares about his students, and is an all around great professor. He wants you to do well in his class, and gives you plenty of opportunity to do so. There are 3 papers that are quite long, but as long as you put in effort then you will do fine. He is not super tough on grading. I would highly recommend taking Bob.

Bob is SO kind and really cares about his students. If you attend every class, you get 100 extra credit points for the entire semester! I didn't really read the book completely, but the quizzes were online, so I just did open book. Participate in discussion because it helps on reflection papers. Some movies are boring, but you'll survive bc Ex.C!

This is a harder course, but rewarding. I love the content, I have had Bob before and I love him! He is good at sparking discussion, while keeping it open-ended and directed toward the students. He let's the students do majority of the talking and let's everyone participate.

Don't skip class because you can get up to 15pts per semester of EC! Nicest professor you'll ever meet -makes you do weekly check ins because he genuinely cares about his students and knows that college is hard. You have to write a LOT of papers, but he's an easy grader. You also have to watch a lot of episodes (don't wait until the night before!!)

Though the lectures may be boring for some, personally they caught my interest most of the time and I thoroughly enjoyed the class, even when I occasionally had issues with the deeper parts of the material. Also, he's extremely caring and will always engage with you outside of class if you need it. Great man.

He is the worst professor I've ever had. He talks in a monotone and in boring run on sentences. He makes subjects that should be interesting into boring slogs. Nearly every class period was painful to sit through. Beware

Very long class. He expects a lot of work from you but he does leave room for you to get the grade you want, if you want to put in the time for it. His lectures are terrible. Long and boring, unless you are really interested in the subject and he is very quite so it is hard to understand.

Had very dry lectures and was a very tough grader on essays. He gives a rubric of what he is expecting on essays and he does follow them very closely, but still a very hard grader fro essays.

Bob is a very tough grader for your papers. That being said, he gives many handouts stating exactly what he wants you to do for your papers. If you follow these handouts, you will definitely get an A on your paper. He also offered 4 extra credit opportunities (3 hour field trips that gave you 2.5% extra credit added to your final grade)

Bob is a super nice professor, classes get rather boring though as he reads his lectures right off the powerpoint. Grades tough on papers, but he gives a pretty clear rubric on what he's looking for. Doesn't assign homework other than readings, which are usually pretty simple. I would definitely take another class with Bob

This was a difficult class; concepts were very abstract. Professor Nowlan is a very dry lecturer--reads right off word documents he printed off. Class is more interesting and helpful when we have group work. LOTS of reading and little assignments throughout the semester. Lots of discussion, so be ready to participate.

Bob is a great professor. He grades kind of hard, but he gives you an outline of what exactly he wants so it is easy to know what his expectations are. Definitely see him outside of class. readings were a little strange but interesting. Overall he was a fun guy, and I will definitely take another class

Bob is probably the nicest professor I have ever had. He is extremelly helpful but grades essays pretty hard. If you meet with him (which he wants) outside of class, you will do great. I definitely recommend Professor Nowlan.

The class isn't all that interesting but he does his best. Not a hard grader as long as you follower his guidelines closely. He's a little bit quirky but he really seems to care about getting students interested in what he is teaching. If I had to take it again, I'd still take it with him.

I was initially concerned about the amount of reading assigned, but this course turned out to be my favorite this semester. All of the texts were fun or interesting to read and I am very impressed with Nowlan's meticulous planning. The class flows really well and he is always changing up discussion from groups to solo which is a nice change of pace

Bob probably teaches the most interesting English 110 class possible. We read graphic novels, had a debate, and produced a play. I am sure that no other English class was as awesome. He is critical of your writing and will be quick to demolish your paper. However, if you talk to him during his office hours to get help he will certainly do so.

I think he is great! Although his writing assignments can be confusing (he gives a full sheet explaining it) he is helpful when asked. We read comic books which I surprisingly found interesting. Take your papers to him before they are due, he will go through everything, tell you what to change and what is good.
