The class is pretty easy, especially since Dr. Ridge curves the tests. His lectures aren't great but the subject matter is pretty interesting. There's a reading quiz every week that isn't too challenging if you do the reading. The class project changes every semester, but it didn't require too much work and is the easiest group project I've done.

Great professor. Goes out of his way to make content relevant and interesting. Daily quizzes for reading content. Need to understand content. Not a very hard class to do well in. I got an A- with very little effort. Barely missed an A. Need to remember lots of stuff. Gives page numbers in textbook of test content! I used international text: cheaper

I was excited to take social psych, but I found it to be a huge disappointment. Dr. Ridge's class is very dry and boring, and his quizzes and tests are very tough. Super specific questions from the book so if you don't study every page you will not do well. I had this class once a week and he would lecture for a straight 2 1/2 hours. Not impressed

I'm really surprised by the positive reviews on here, because that was not my experience at all in this class. He made an effort to NOT be available to help students, including ignoring emails. And it was SO BORING. I was really excited about this subject, but he cured me of that. The only thing I learned from him was to appreciate other professors

He is a terrible teacher. I would never take another class from him. If you don't mind being bored out of your mind during lectures, doing worthless projects, seeing half of the material for the first time on the test, and jumping through countless annoying hoops, then you'll enjoy your experience. Don't even get me started on the study guides.

I took both 350 and 352 from Ridge and would recommend both! Entertaining, interesting, and he gives you plenty of opportunity to get an A. 352 is largely based on a group research project you do with the whole class, which gives you a lot of free points. Ridge is an all-around great professor.

He is probably the worst professor I've had at BYU and by far the worst professor I've encountered in the Psychology department. His lectures are the most boring and worthless 3 hours of my week. Every week. Also, he is the worst test-writer that I've ever encountered. No matter how much we studied, no one did well (not an exaggeration). The worst.

His grading policies are unclear and he doesn't really seem to care about it. His test questions are terribly worded and he intentionally tries to trick you as much as possible. Find someone else to take this course from.

Comment:
Professor Ridge is a very boring lecturer and does not involve any humor or brain breaks; it's basically like listening to an audiotape of the textbook. He does not use powerpoints or any other templates for keeping track of course materials; it's either notes taken in class or the textbook. He does not explain assignments very well either.

Doesn't respond to emails. It's a hassle to find a time to get extra help. Doesn't use powerpoint slides or post anything for you to access. Just lectures from his notes the entire class. Gives homework in class and doesn't post about them so if you miss class, you miss homework. Three tests but the research group project is weighted higher.

Dr. Ridge is straight forward. Readskim for main topics for the quizzes each week. The other assignments are straight forward and easy to get 100% on. The tests come from everything (textbook reading, class discussion, videos shown, etc) which can be slightly tricky. Understand the main ideas from everything and know his study guide thoroughly

Ridge made 352 interesting. Lectures were good, attendance is important (gives handouts), a few easy papers, and one big project that was actually not hard at all if you didn't procrastinate. Tests were hard but just study a lot and you'll be fine. He's a great guy and fair grader. Take 352 from him! Also, offers tons of EC :)

Super Interesting class. GO TO CLASS (he gives out handouts). Chapter quizzes every class that are easy if you just read the textbook, and he gives out clear study guides for tests. Tons of EC, easy projects and papers and he gives pretty good lectures. Not sure why people think this class is hard. Do the work and you will do fine.

The have been my favorite classes, and lead to Dr. Ridge being my favorite professor at BYU. I paid attention in class, did all the reading, reviewed my notes for about an hour before the tests, and got an A.

I was really confused after reading all of the reviews on him as to whether he'd be a good professor or not. The people that say his class is hard struggle. I am at a high A- and the only reason I am not at an A is because I missed class once and read the wrong chapter another time which made me do bad on 2 of the quizzes. Read and study hard = A.

Dr. Ridge has been one of my favorite psych professors. His tests can be tricky...if you don't put time into actually studying or reading through the text book. You won't find anything on the test that isn't taught in the class or IN THE TEXTBOOK...you do actually need to study yourself. He keeps the class interesting and is very nice and helpful

Hardest class I've ever taken here. I would rather suffer through American Heritage 100 more times then come here. No structure, not helpful lectures, and boring. Heavy book reading and ridiculous tests. Nobody EVER did well on them. Everything was really unpredictable.
