I loved Dr. Welch's class. She was funny and engaging. She just wanted her students to succeed. If you make an effort to go to her office hours and talk to her one-on-one, it makes a big difference. She is very sarcastic so that can rub people the wrong way but she really does care about her students.

Comment:

Dr. Welch is one of my absolute favorites at UWW. She is caring and very intelligent. I definitely learned a lot from her and I would 100% take another class that she taught. Her exams were pretty difficult but it helped a lot that she allowed half page cheat-sheets. Be kind and respectful to her and she will be nice back.

I am normally someone who excels easy in classes that I try in, but this lady was IMPOSSIBLE. She did not clearly outline any of her material from lectures, papers or class discussions. She is exceptionally rude and will insult students for "incorrect" questions, mindsets, & writing. I believe she had the best intentions, but do not take her.

DO NOT TAKE HER!! She is rude, she has awful sense into the real world and she thinks she knows everything. She has poorly worded instructions and emails for assignments & her lectures are not beneficial because she goes on rants about random things but expects you to be engaged the whole time. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER!!!

She is abruptly rude to students and grades an assignment without giving us any direction for it. Has no filter and is overall not nice. She grades hard and her tests are difficult. Try not to take her if possible.

Dr. Welch is a terrible professor. Her organization of the class is all over the place and tricks you on exams. She writes her exams based on where you will be in 3 years rather than present day. She scolds at you and is very unapproachable. She insulted the whole class and puts you down at times. Dont take if you have the chance.

Dr. Welch is the typical I've been teaching for a while so I can teach this class however I want teacher. That being said she is a teacher who really cares about her students. Even though she is a super tough grader, you have to try really hard not to pass. She offers you a lot of opportunities to work with her.

She is a really great professor, she can be confusing most of the time but if you spend one on one time with her, it really does help you in the end. She genuinely cares about all of her students and works hard to make sure you're understanding the material and puts things in real life circumstances and application. It really helps prepare you.

She is extremely rude, scolds you for asking questions, AND advised our entire class to print the notes because if we didnt she would have to sit and wait for us to write it which is a waist of time for her. Worst class, and I dread going to it. Basically treated you like you were incredibly stupid constantly.

I had her for several classes as well as my counselor at Hanover College. I wish she was still in town. She was a true asset to the educational community here. Always willing to listen, gave great real world experienced feedback and challenged me to do more.

Welch is a well respected professor that cares for her students. She views you as an adult and also treats you this way. If you have any questions, she is available via office hours, email, or phone and you get immediate response back. She is a hard grader but you know what to expect, you are never blind sided. Favorite professor hands down!

Her tests are impossible. Her group project is the biggest pain ever. But, I have a lot of respect for Welch. She cares SO much about her students and will do whatever to help. As hard as she was, I like the challenge and would take her again.

Welch was confused, unorganized, and gave terrible feedback from the start of the class (not good for online teaching). She was the toughest grader I've ever had, and she gave very unclear directions that made you have to guess. If you have the option, don't take her if you'd like to get a decent grade.

Take this class online!! Speeches are easy to do, although you have to have 4 adult audience members. Her quizzes are so hard that everyone fails and she curves them. I went from a 17/35 to a 31/35. She only made us do 3/4 speeches based on time. Open book quizzes. No homework besides readings and discussions.

Welch is a great professor. She cares about her students and wants you to do well. If you read the book and take notes during her lectures you will be fine for the exams. She also allows a one-sided cheat sheet for each exam which is extremely helpful. Bring your laptop to follow along with her Powerpoints as they are fill in the blank. Good luck!

Welch is a very nice lady, but her classes are incredibly confusing and difficult. She cares a lot about her students and will help you if you ask in advance. Papers are really confusing along with tests and quizzes. Ask questions and get on her good side. Good luck.

Welch is okay.. She definitely plays favorites, so just try to be on her good side. Luckily there isn't a lot of readings, but her notes can be pretty unorganized.. Ask for clarification as much as possible. She's very smart, but just isn't really the best at teaching.

Although Dr. Welsh cares for her students very much, she is not a good teacher. It was the worse class I took, and not because it was a speech class either. She is a very difficult grader, and I mean TOUGH GRADER!! There is a lot of lecture, but not on how to give a speech and there isn't any help with how to get better. Not good on feedback.
