I've had Professor Katz for two courses at BU, RN328 and RN384, and he is definitely one of my favorite professors at BU. He's extremely intelligent and his lectures are so fascinating. Each class was more intriguing than the next. I would highly recommend taking a class with Professor Katz before graduating from BU.

Sometimes, people always have misconception over the Holocaust, and it's important to know the truth before making a judgement. Katz is also extremely humorous and always tells jokes during the lecture. The grade depends on three exams and one paper. You would do well on the exams if you attend every lecture and take notes carefully.

Very interesting class and you can tell he knows his stuff. He's very approachable and easy to talk to. The class is all lecture with no discussion so if you don't understand a concept you have to see him directly. Also, tests are basic questions but require immense detail so be prepared to write exactly what he is looking for.

Katz is an amazing professor! This class is very engaging and you will learn so much. Everyone should sit in on Katz's lectures at some point. Very manageable class, no tricks, very clear on grading and he cares more about you taking some knowledge away than putting a letter to your name. One of my favorite classes at BU so far

This is a great class even if you aren't Jewish. It is very easy to do well in this class if you don't use your computer/get distracted. Take hand written notes and actually pay attention and you will get so much of out this class including an A. Professor Katz isn't the most personable but he is engaging and makes the material compelling.

Such a great class! This is coming from an engineering student who has never been interested in any sort of humanities. The class is very straightforward: 3 exams (non cumulative) and 1 essay. I never did any of the readings, but still got an A. You really just have to take good notes and study them. He is such an amazing lecturer!

I could listen to Katz talk for hours. Even with such a depressing topic like the Holocaust, he keeps you interested in what's going on. He tries to not keep a bias, giving insight as to what was going on on all sides of the war. It was a really interesting class and I learned a lot more than I thought I would. I would recommend this class.

While Professor Katz is a great professor, his grading is not clear whatsoever. He frequently changes dates and allows his TF to decide how to grade papers and essays. Thus, a graduate student who has no history in learning the holocaust grades 100 people based on his history of IRReligion. Katz is a great guy, but I would not recommend his course

Dr. Katz is an amazing professor and we are so lucky to have him at BU. If you have the chance to take his class - DO. I cannot emphasize that enough. He is incredibly intelligent and has put a lot of time in the material he presents to the class. He is also very funny, despite the dark nature of this course. Study your notes, not the text.

Absolutely fantastic professor. He is brilliant and so fun to listen to. You must go to lecture so you can write down everything he says. If you do, you will get an A on all exams. There is no need to read any of the books. He is a talking textbook, and is a cute jolly old man.

Dr. Katz is one of the best professors I've had at BU. He lectures like he's telling a story and he's so engaging even when the material isn't that exciting. I took his class on the Holocaust and I've been recommending it to everyone I know. Take this class! It's a lot of note-taking. Definitely go to the optional discussion sections!

One of my favorite classes so far at BU. Great lecturer - listen and take detailed notes and you will do well on the midterm and final. Held my attention through every class and somehow managed to slip jokes into the lectures. Would definitely recommend!

Very smart guy! He's a good lecturer and despite not using power points or visual aids of any sort he manages to be engaging for an hour and a half. Go to "non mandatory" discussion sections! Improved my grade A TON! The first midterm was hard but after I started going to discussion the paper and final were easy. Our TA, Joel, was great too.
