He does not do very well with technology. He did not added over 10 points to my grade, even when the computer system was showing that he did not do it. He insisted he did, therefore I lost about 15 points in extra-credit worked for.

I took his Political Violence and Terrorism class which was promptly cancelled the next semester because the deans office was receiving so much hate over this class. As everyone else has stated Tim is a little too smart for his own good. Interesting lecturer but in no way does it reflect what is on the test. The U needs to audit this guy.

Dr. Chambless is a fantastic professor! It's true that he gives a heavy workload and expects a lot from his students, so don't expect an easy "A." The best way to do well in his classes is to be engaged and to meet with him outside of class if you have any questions (or even if you don't - he's great to talk to!).

This course is far too difficult for a gen ed. I'd recommend taking a different professor with a more reasonable course load for a gen ed requirement if you want to have time to invest in your major classes. Expect a lot of memorization for tests and weekly quizzes that are so difficult that reading the chapter that they are on doesn't really help.

One of the worst designed classes I've taken at the University of Utah. Quizzes, which are a major part of your grade have answers that are not even in the book, along with midterms. Answers to multiple questions also have multiple right answers. Used google for most my quizzes as reading the book did not help. Extra Credit is the only way to ace.

A general ed class that really belongs in upper division. Weekly quizzes are tough on minute details and are best completed with a google search open in another tab. Essays are based on fact regurgitation. Exams questions often seemed impertinent and pedantic, many of them resembling trivia. Class is too hard for its level 1100. Do not recommend.

Online class is a no go. This online class took up about half of the workload total of all my classes. The once-a-week quizzes are incredibly hard (even if you did the reading ) and the exams are taken on chapters that are different chapters. Way too hard for a 1000. The extra credits are always during class times which makes them hard t attend.

I took the class online, and his quizzes were terrible. The questions were often about random minute details. He also made mistakes in the answers, so I got questions wrong when they should have been right. When I emailed him about it, he didn't reply. He graded the essays fairly easily though. Overall, he was unprepared for an online class.

There were two quizzes every week that were extremely confusing and difficult. There were grammatical errors and incorrect answers to certain questions. The course was very frustrating.

EXTRA CREDIT! If you aren't great at studying, then you will need to attend the Hinckley Institute Forums. This will get you an A. (BIG HINT). I got D's on all the exams but I attended 80 pts. worth of extra credit at the Hinckley Institute forums. I got an A. I did the assignments and I tried, but he is hard to follow. GO TO THE FORUMS!

Hands down, worst teacher i've ever had at the U. His quizzes are very hard, next to impossible. He assigns a textbook to buy, yet gets none of his answers or questions from it. I had to email him after almost every quiz because of so many "computer glitches" saying I got questions wrong that were in fact right. Careless and arrogant.

Tim is a smart guy. He knows what's happening in the political world. That might be what works against him. There's a lot of information that is thrown at you during lectures that doesn't really pertain to the subjects, more off-topic junk. His tests are hard, some things not in the text book and more what he just said in class...

If you want to maintain you GPA do not take this class. Tests are very tough. Way too much information that he expects you to remember and memorize. In class all he does is just rambles about countless court cases and history. He knows a lot about the subject but doesn't know how to teach it.

Tests are impossible. Gives extra credit if you attend extra discussions, but if you work full time this class can be impossible to receive a good grade. For a general 1100 class the difficulty of this class is a joke. DO NOT TAKE. Take from another professor or take a different class for a same credit.

Worst professor I have ever had at the University of Utah. His online course is the most variating course I have ever taken. Quizzes are from the "book", but they never correlate. It's amazing these professors want us to learn, and don't help us to do so.

professor chambless runs a tight ship. he has very little leeway with grading and late turn ins. his grading scale is strict and he doesn't allow any room for error. i would say avoid this class unless it is part of your major or you are very interested in the subject. he will teach you but he wont give you the grade.

I really like Prof Chambless. He has truly helped me with every one of my academic goals. His tests for POLS 1100 were pretty difficult, but he gives points at the end of the semester for class participation. Papers are a big portion of the grade too and I enjoyed class discussions.

I think that this professor is one that can teach very well. He has very useful and interesting information and cool stories, but he does tend to beat around the bush on questions. I would say if you like a professor who talks like an encyclopedia take this class.
