Bengston is a quirky guy, but he is a great professor! Very willing to help with questions and outlines exactly what you need to know for the tests and quizzes. I didn't think I would like Discrete Math, but he made it fun and interesting! His notes are a little excessive for no reason, but you will know what to look at.

Comment:

Awful professor. This was the first time that Augustana offered the class to students and he actually told us "I have no idea why they put a math teacher in charge of a genealogy class." He would prepare his lessons as he was teaching them and wasted so much time simply trying to use a computer. Huge waste of time and very boring. Do not recommend.

Nice enough guy. WAY TOO MUCH READING. we read 4 books and a final book and wrote about a dozen papers. There were reading quizzes every class that were sometimes difficult even if you read. he was very clear about what he wanted for papers and speeches and everything got turned in on moodle and we could see our grades.

Dr. Bengtson was by far the best professor I had during my fall term. He is able to teach difficult material in a way that made it easy to learn. The homework wasn't hard but it covered the important points of the lesson. He also is very approachable for extra help if you need it. I really can't say much bad about him except for some of his jokes.

Prof. Bengtson is very helpful! He is always there willing to help. I did not do very well in the class first but in the second half of the term I worked much harder and ask questions frequently. His explanation were clear and easy-understanding. Great teacher

If you can take his calc 219 class. You never use the book and he explains it very well. I did take a full year of it in Highschool and Breezed right through his class. Also if you enjoy books and not bad papers take his LSFY class also. Its a lot of reading (150+ pgs a week) but there all novels nothin tricky.

Professor Bengtson is the greatest teacher I've ever had. Not only does he make the subject matter interesting and engaging, but he clearly cares about his students and their successes. We need more people in the world like Dr. Bengtson. He's energetic, intelligent, and very kind.

He does everything in his power to make Calculus easy to his students. It is then up to you to spend the time necesary to learn it. All tests were open book/note and he gives you all the answers for the quizes, and goes over any questions on homework. class is still hard because it is Calculus, but Dr. Bengston makes it approachable and almost fun

We took 8 tests during the term that made up 80% of our grade. Also he took an hour test and put it in a 50 minute period, so if your a slow test taker or bad at tests it sucks. The other 20% of the grade was the final. His class was hard but he is helpful if you are struggling in the class.
